How to Plan Differentiated Reading Instruction: Resources for Grades K-3 Second Edition

I taught K-2 for 9 years before finding this book. It’s extraordinary in that it fully explains what to do and why, AND includes all lesson plans and materials necessary to execute phonics-based small groups. Assessments are also included. I used these lessons in my classroom and the results were so sudden and dramatic that we adopted them school-wide the following year. We are seeing similar results accross all grade-levels. I teach at a Title I school and we serve a high number of ELLs. This book has changed our lives as teachers because we finally have something that’s practical and efficient to implement and it WORKS. And more importantly, it’s changing kid’s and their family’s lives because they are learning how to read. I am forever grateful for this book!

Excellent resource for SOR planning

I teach 3rd grade and every year I have students coming in reading far below grade level. This has everything you need to implement intervention in your classroom- pretest to see what skills are lacking, ready to copy intervention lessons and post test. Highly recommend!!!

This is an excellent book that lays out exactly how to explicitly teach reading. The book provides (almost) all materials necessary for Tier II and Tier III reading instruction. Assessments, decodable sentences, word lists, lesson plans, etc. The only things not included with this book are the recommended trade books for Fluency and Comprehension (FAC) and Vocabulary and Comprehension (VAC) groups. I would recommend this book to any teacher who is new to the science of reading and phonics instruction.

This is a wonderful resource for interventions! A few pages were printed damaged and are unusable. However, I did not notice until after the return window closed.

This book includes a link to online resources (or you could just copy them from the book itself) to screen students' proficiency level. Then clear instructions around where to begin intervention ALONG WITH the lessons to use with the kids.

The book arrived in wonderful shape tucked into my mailbox. I can't wait to read and get some great teaching ideas.
