Natural Linen Canvas Excellent Choice of Artists Art Painting Width 87 inches

Actually I couldn't use it for what I bought it for I do pastel portraits and I do it on white linen about the thickness of a sheet and this was pretty thick stuff and I couldn't use it for that but I will use it for some painting and it looks like it would be great for that

You absolutely need to gesso this. I stretched mine extremely tight and did 2 generous coats of Windsor and Newton clear gesso. I cannot imagine painting on this unprimed. Yes, it is not 100 percent opaque and does have a slight open weave. But that’s what makes it look great! You can tell it’s real linen.My linen paintings have been my most popular by far! I read the reviews about the more open weave and ordered anyway, hoping for the best. Having photos would have helped, so I’m sharing these photos so you can make a more informed decision. This is woven almost as open as burlap. There is no linen stamp on the edge to prove it’s actually linen. Im afraid the gesso would fall out the large holes. I do appreciate the natural color, that’s the best I can say about this product. I’m going to give it a go, and if it does end up being a successful canvas, I’ll update my review.

On the eighth day god created linen canvas.No seam blemish, perfect thickness. ( best sized with rabbit skin glue sizing.

One customer compared the linen to cheesecloth which is an exaggeration, but the linen is very porous. The sizing will go right through this fabric. I used an acrylic primer and it goes through easily to the back side which is not great, but I was able to paint on it and get a feel for what working on linen is like. I remember being surprised when I saw a Paul Gauguin painting on burlap so it is possible to create a painting on some pretty porous fibres. It isn't easy to prime or stain this linen and thick paint will squeeze through to the back side, but If you don't mind a porous surface then this might work for you.
