Had to buy for a class, and would recommend this version over others.

Highly recommended!
We adopted this book many years ago for our physics majors, and several students have said it is their favorite undergraduate physics textbook. McIntyre does a nice job of drawing connections between theory and experiment so that students learn the subject in a holistic manner. His explanations of the math and concepts are thorough, and students appreciate the example problems as well as the descriptions of modern applications. The spins-first trend of recent quantum books is highly effective and appealing. This book is especially good at transitioning from discrete to continuous probability distributions, both as a pedagogical tool and as a way of laying the foundations of quantum mechanics. The material flows logically and clearly throughout. As with all physics classes, we typically supplement the textbook content in some places; but McIntyre has otherwise achieved an appropriate balance of undergraduate introduction and graduate preparation. I always look forward to re-reading this book. So do my students.
