Amazing Help!
These have been an amazing help with communicating with my son. He is in preschool and has a speech delay so this absolutely not only helped me but was also helpful for his teacher to communicate with him.

Helpful and Convey Needs
Overall, this is a fairly durable, good set of communication cards. I think they can handle a spill, some tough days and be wiped off gently. There are a few cards that could be confusing. Cat on a toilet with a newspaper could be a child on a toilet with a book, that way there isn't confusion that an animal isn't currently "doing its business in the house". Some of the expressions are odd and maybe these are cultural differences. Yet, other pictures are so very expressive and really convey what they mean. We have a misprinted card that says, "I want quie" not "quiet" (permanent marker can fix) and the girl is frowning while holding a bent finger to her lips. Maybe it's just me, but I think of "shushing - shhhh" as a person with a straight finger in front of somewhat puckered lips. I see this card with a frowning female, bent finger in front of her mouth to mean, "hmm, where are my car keys? (or whatever misplaced thing). Listen to music needs a music note or instrument otherwise it could mean "Ear defenders please". I want to draw should have a paper with drawing supplies vs the picture of paints & brushes. That is me really trying to pick these apart and only a very few cards in the whole lot that COULD be considered ambiguous. But, the vast majority of the cards are very helpful. They use a picture and words so if the meaning isn't clear you can make it clear by association over a short period of time. They are helpful for kids that don't have access to augmentive communication technology. These card sets will definitely cut down on frustration or meltdowns. There is a nice card holder on a stretchy, coiled line that can attach to a belt loop, backpack, or whatever is safe. The way the cards are separate and attach to a ring allows you to make, laminate and even add a few of your own. These cards aren't just for children (people) struggling to use expressive communication, they are for all of us to use to improve communication and to be an equal part of the process. I definitely recommend these cards. (I'd say 4.6 or so)
