Bought these to replace a set that had seen better days.

Very strong and definitely work.The one time I managed to get them lined up properly, it worked perfectly.But doing so is almost impossible; in order to tighten the splitter once it's contacted the nut, you pretty much need a wrench to hold the body steady and another to tighten it. This leaves no hands left to hold it in place and it tends to slip, since the hole the nut fits into is so large, and round. The blade tries to rotate as the screw rotates, and this means it's very difficult to keep it aligned with where you want it on the nut. (there is a small screw to hold it in place but it doesn't work well and it wouldn't face in the direction I wanted it to.All in all a very usable product for the price but not ideal in its design.

XXX UPDATE XXXBig one is buggered now. Probably got 8 big nuts split with it. First the edge got chewed up then the holding screw wouldn't stay in place as it cut a channel so the blade spins, became unusable.For the money I'm happy with thisSplit some 22mm nuts rusted solid as part of the suspension on my 4X4.Big robust tool that works very well. It is sided and you need to check which way round it is if the nut you're going to split is flush to a mount. If you don't check which way round it is then you can end up cutting a groove into the nut but leave an uncut band that is harder to cut as the tool will slip into the freshly cut groove.Works very well and had no problems with it, it even split the nylon which is handy.Definitely worth the money. Highly recommended.

Purchased to remove exhaust catalytic converter, chewed up nuts but did not split them. Also the tool distorted completely. Basically useless...

Items arrived in good time and were not expensive. Used the larger unit to help remove a nut on my car and was not too happy with the performance. The screw that stops the "blade" turning was not very effective and the chisel end was not hardened enough to split the nut effectively. Fortunately I have a grinder and was able to sharpen the blunted tip. Without this the splitter would not be fit for further use.

I have never needed a nut splitter before and I now don't know how I lived without one.I needed to remove a 10mm nut from the window regulator assembly on my car and I could not get enough access to reach round the back. Someone at work suggested a nut splitter and as I had never used one before and am not likely to need them again I opted for these as they were inexpensive and looked like they would do the job.Fitting it round the nut was no problem and it was highly satisfying feeling the pressure increase as the ratchet handle turned, and then when it split there was a satisfying clunk, what more could you want from a tool?From now onwards whenever I need to remove a nut these babies are coming out, stuff spanners this is the only way to get a nut off.

The quality of the guiding screw, which keeps the chisel head straight as you tighten and sink the chisel, was poor, breaking after the first ten minutes of use. So, I took out and used the screw from the second, larger tool ( the screw was the same size as the smaller tool !) and that lasted a bit longer before that screw broke but no where near as long as I needed to get the job done. Disappointed and out of pocket.

I was ordering nut/bolt removers in preparation for carrying out some work on my son's car and saw these Nut Splitters as a recommended purchase... at a very good price. So I lumped them in with the order thinking, can't really go wrong for the price of a couple of pints.Well tried them out today on a pair of captive nuts welded to the Audi Chassis... split the nut and broke off the split nut from the chassis and not a mark on the nut splitter. I was fairly confident the splitter would work with a nut in the middle of the holding ring but with this one being captive I had to press the splitter onto the nut as I tightened till it bit. Even though it was only caught by the edge of the "blade" the tool made short work of chopping through and splitting the broken nut away from the welds to the chassis.The purchase was worth it for this one job alone, given garage service rates.

Parece mentira que una herramienta tan práctica ni siquiera se conozca en las ferreterías y las grandes superficies de bricolaje.Usarlo es sencillo, pero recomiendo apoyarse en dos llaves, una que gire el tornillo que hace presión en la cortadora y otra para sujetar el mango de la pieza (una llave inglesa usé en mi caso) para mantener la herramienta fija y que sea mas fácil que parta la tuerca.Por otro lado, es cuestión de hacer fuerza pero con maña, poco a poco penetra en la tuerca y la parte sin que esta salte ni dañe el tornillo. Eso si, cuanto mas firme sea la base donde está el tornillo mas fácil. En cualquier caso, yo la usé para sacar una tuerca atascada en un trozo de la antena de mi coche, lo cual es un sitio delicado y poco firme, así que sin problema.Muy recomendable para tu set de herramientas.

Livré en deux jours par DPD, j'ai utilisé le grand modèle sur un écrou de 16 mm (biellette de barre stabilisatrice trop rouillée). J'ai pu le casser sans trop d'effort. Une fois qu'il est serré, il ne tourne pas, il suffit juste de tourner la vis. De toute façon, le corps étant plat, on peut le tenir avec une pince ou une clé à molette.Petit plus pour garantir un fonctionnement idéal : graisser le filetage avant utilisation.
