## Description

This textbook, now in its sixth edition, continues to be straightforward and easy-to-read, presenting the principles of PLCs while not tying itself to one manufacturer or another. Extensive examples and chapter ending problems utilize several popular PLCs, highlighting understanding of fundamentals that can be used regardless of manufacturer. This book will help you to understand the main design characteristics, internal architecture, and operating principles of PLCs, as well as Identify safety issues and methods for fault diagnosis, testing, and debugging. New to This edition: A new chapter 1 with a comparison of relay-controlled systems, microprocessor-controlled systems, and the programmable logic controller, a discussion of PLC hardware and architecture, examples from various PLC manufacturers, and coverage of security, the IEC programming standard, programming devices and manufacturer's softwareMore detail of programming using Sequential Function ChartsExtended coverage of the sequencerMore Information on fault finding, including testing inputs and outputs with an illustration of how it is done with the PLC manufacturer's softwareNew case studies

Review: The description of how the PLC handles the instruction stack and how and why the ladder diagram is used is easy to understand - Introduction to the world of PLC's, get this if you are just getting started or if you want to fill some cracks in your foundation. The description of how the PLC handles the instruction stack and how and why the ladder diagram is used is easy to understand. I really like that the book has code samples from different PLC manufacturers and brings out some differences between them. The book gives you the basic understanding required to have no problem reading programming instructions of different manufacturers, but it doesn't go into to much detail. For instance the chapters on data handling and system design are really just a few quick notes and don't help you with actual program/data structuring and good software management. Also most of the program samples could easily be handled by a couple of relays. While I would like more detailed information on some subjects, the book never claims to be anything more than an introduction and is well written and easy to read, earns 5 stars from me.
Review: This book is good, but is not the best - This book is good, but is not the best: although author writes some technical routes, methods for PLC programming, however, this book can not be a guidance for PLC programming because author is shortage of practical experiences which is reflected in this book.
