Just buy it.
Love love love this. It's a great way to conceptually understand physics (which imo is the most important part of learning physics...plugging and chugging will only take you so far.) It all condensed information, nothing is unnecessary.

Correct-Answer Explanations Give Insight Into What AP Physics 2 Examiners Expect
5 STEPS TO A 5: AP PHYSICS 2: ALGEBRA-BASED 2018 contains a daunting amount of substantive review material (pages 75-250), but of course the book is intended for use alongside a high school class in Advanced Placement Physics 2. Topics (with accompanying practice problems) that are covered are as follows: fluid mechanics; thermodynamics and gases; electrostatics; current electricity; magnetism; waves, light, and optics; and modern physics. Each book in the McGraw-Hill “5 Steps” series is organized around the following five steps: (1) set up a study program using the online site; (2) take a diagnostic test printed in the book to determine your test readiness; (3) develop successful strategies for answering multiple-choice, short-answer, and essay questions; (4) review the specific subject-matter material you are expected to know for the particular AP exam; and (5) take full-length practice tests with questions similar to actual exam questions to build your confidence and testing skills. The books are issued annually, so be sure to check for the latest edition before you buy--the AP exams may have some format changes from year to year. The 2018 AP Physics 2 guide includes two full-length practice exams. The exams are followed by detailed explanations of the correct answers to the multiple-choice questions, and by point-by-point explanations of sample answers to the free-response questions.By studying the expanded explanations of the correct answers, you can learn what kinds of answers are expected from you. Armed with this knowledge of the exam itself, you can fully utilize your personal knowledge of physics, give the examiners the answers they want to see, and score high on the actual exam.

Excellent
Very thorough and well laid out prep source. It covers all the bases while giving good advice. Use it together with a textbook and online resources to clean up any areas that student is not testing well on, and it is a quality guide and review. It is a great book for a student to take a practice test, assess weaknesses, take in the review and the advice, and go back to textbook to practice more. After that, comeback to this book again and take another practice test to see how much the student has improved, and repeat...

Good systematic guide
This book has online resources that support the book. It uses a very systematic approach to grade improvement, providing an initial test to evaluate your current knowledge and test readiness and a study plan. There is no magic to grade improvement, it's simply lots of practice with different types of questions, so you can move trough the question quickly. The online resources provide you plenty of practice exercises. If you diligently follow the plan you should

Excellent, well organized review -- work through it -- It's hard to imagine anyone who wouldn't benefit on the test from it
An excellent step by step guide that provides a clear strategy for passing the AP Physics 2 test, incorporating algebra throughout.Step 1 Setting Up Your Study Program. How to do well in the class, including planning for the year.Step 2: Are You Ready for the Test: Practice tests -- evaluating how you do on (1) fundamentals and 92) different kinds of questions. This is a very good section as the book is working with the reader, individually, to analyze your own strengths and weaknesses and then address the latter.Step 3: Strategies for Success - Remembering what was important in Physics 1 and then practicing with multiple choice questions to learn how to improve your test taking skills. Then you work on the harder part: Strategies for different kinds of free-response questions.Step 4: Reviewing Subject Matter -- Sections on Fluid Mechanics; Thermodynamics and Gases; Electrostatics; Current Electricity; Magnetism; Waves, Light, Optics; Modern PhysicsStep 5: Building Confidence with Practice Exams -- Practice with Multiple Choice and Free Response tests (x4) and understanding how they're scored. The structure of the book is excellent. But the best part to me is the answers/solutions to the practice problems. They explain the reasoning behind the solution. Take time, follow the advice in Step 1, including the scheduling and WORK THROUGH THIS BOOK. It's very well thought out, very well explained (even the Appendix is useful, listing the Constants, and the Physics 2 equations for Newtonian Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, Fluids, Gases and Thermal Physics, Waves and Optics, and Modern Physics..Work through the book, follow the guidance and practices and read the explanations and assessments. I can't imagine that it wouldn't improve anyone's outcome on the AP test. (Plus the added advantage of the kinds of questions themselves feeling very familiar when you test--always an advantage in any test taking situation).

helpful
The book is a good primer on what is being asked at the exam. It has lots of examples of the questions and how to answer them and why. There is a lot of advise on how to take the test, how to find your strengths and weaknesses and how to deal with them. They do provide you with sample tests for practice.

Four Stars
It is an easy read book. However, it could include more practice questions.

Would've been better if there is more practice problems :)
