they aren’t as thick as the ones from the orthodontist. So, we ended up having to go there and get some. still did the job.

I don't use these for braces
I love these rubber bands, but I don't use them for braces. They are perfect for hair for tiny braids or ponytails. Since they are so small they barely show up in your hair and it doesn't look like a huge thread-covered elastic at the end of a braid. They are also VERY strong and have good stretch to them. I have used tiny elastics made for hair, and these are so much better due to strength and stretch. I have used them for years and was running out so I was glad to get these. Since the are so strong I believe that they would be perfect for their intended use on braces as well.

Good for crafts
I go thru a lot of tiny rubber bands making dog bows and these work perfectly for that if you want to just slip a dog bow over a tiny ponytail without having to double it (which hurts the dog) since they are tiny enough to stay put over another rubber band. These so far have held up fine and seem strong enough for repeated uses. They have a good amount of stretch and are tiny enough for my needs. Good bands for crafting.

Strong bands
I got these for a small project I was planning, so I can't really judge their capabilities for their intended use, nor can I penalize these for any shortcomings on unintended uses. I will, however, say these are quite strong and stretchable, so I can imagine they will work fine as orthodontic bands. I do agree that they thin out rapidly as you stretch them, but that's to be expected, and they don't seem excessively thin in their natural state. Finally, just to parrot the warning on the bag, this is a natural rubber latex product, so be careful if you have allergies.
