Great set for 4 year olds
Our (very nearly) 4 year old has just built this and its excellent. Supervision will of course be required for younger builders but our son took to this well (he's previously only built another 4+ Lego cement mixer). Instructions are basic and just what is required, lots of stages but they are simple. Just note there are lots of small individual parts such as a walkie talkie and some food bait items which could get lost easily.

Interactive, so much to do with this set, great for youngsters
The media could not be loaded. This latest wildlife set is fantastic for even the youngest Lego fans, aimed at children aged 4+ the instructions are easy to follow, and well laid out. There are small hand images to show the child which pieces they need for each section as well as directing them which bag or additional pieces from the box they need for each step. There were three build bags in this set, one for the bridge and canyon scenery which included a minifigure, snake, egg and lions. One for the rescue 4x4 truck which also included a mini figure and come accessories and the final was for the tree and mini jet ski which also had a mini figure. There were three figures in total as well as the snake, baby lion and adult lion, accessories include two stakes to cook chicken and fish on over the open fire, a hairbrush, milk bottle, some bones, a camera, radio and binoculars. One of the great features about this set is how interactive it is! The bridge collapses onto the river creating great possibilities for fun narratives to develop during the child’s play and the 4x4 has a working chain pully system to help save the day! I love the little Lego animals the lions are very well details, the baby lion is one piece but the adult lion has a moving head and the hind and rear legs move. It’s a great value piece which is part of the latest wildlife range.

Great set with lovely animals and lots of accessories- lots of playability
This is one of the new wildlife theme sets Lego have released- this one is designed to be built by 4+ so is very easy to build, however the attraction of the set was the number of animals and the ability to play with this set once built. It contains an adult male lion, baby lion, snake (curved body flat to floor with raised head) and egg. It also contains some bones, a piece of meat for BBQ or for the lions to be eating and a fish that could be used in the river section or as food. There are three minifigures, a car and a boat and lots of accessories-crates, bottle and brush for caring for the cub, camera, binoculars and a staff to move the snake as well as poles for fishing/BBQ.The car is an example of how they have adapted this for younger children- the base of the car comes as one brick rather than multiple pieces and only wheels, bonnet, windscreen etc have to be added. The car has a chain at the back that can be wound up, to pull obstacles out of the way. It fits 2 minfigs- one driving and one on the back, with the third minifig using the boat. There are two caves, which are each made up of 3 rock walls, which were a favourite with my son. My least favourite pieces of this set it the base. These are newer pieces from Lego that have a 4*1 lower studded plate area on each side to allow pieces to connect together but the rest of the plate is essentially 2 plates thick and is a combination of tile (no studs) and plate (studs). These can therefore be joined together by a 2*4 plate or tile to create one larger play area.My son also didn’t like how the two caves were joined with the wooden beam and found that he struggles with getting the male lion to stand/balance with the beam in place so we did end up using a different length beam for him to be happier. I like this set, it's not very technical to build at all but has great playability. The instructions have been adapted for 4+ and each double page of the booklet shows a giant hand on one page with pictures of the pieces you need on them, and then the second page shows the model and the pieces in place with a red outline. I think this is unnecessarily big- and makes the booklet twice as large as it needed to be. Admittedly my son is well above the 4+ age but he was frustrated by this and asked why the instructions needed to show the huge hands each page.A lovely set with great playability and lovely collection of animals.

A roaring success with our lad.
I’m not sure what it is about these little Lego chains but our nearly four year old boy is obsessed with them! They are quite happily his favourite Lego piece and he was delighted to have one which went onto a winch and even happier that it all attached onto a 4X4. This set is aged at 4+ and our little-un managed most of this build himself but lost interest with the scenery part which I had to take over but was right back in there when the 4X4 bag was opened! A good simple build with very easy to read instructions which young minds find easier to follow than standard Lego booklets. The lions are fun but the snake was my favourite and my only disappointment was the jet ski which feels like a bit of an afterthought compared to the rest of the set. Also quite a pricey bit of Lego working out at 25p per piece and a price of £40 at time of review. But apart from that a good fun set which has had plenty of play time.

LOVE IT! Why was this not around when I was a kid, although slightly expensive at £39.99
LEGO has come an awful long way since I was a girl. These sets are brilliant and I particularly like this wildlife theme. Easy to build with good instructions and great for kids make there own stories up.Only thing I'm not so keen on (and yes I know its lego) is the lego piece sticking out of the lions back, as I'm not sure what you'd stick on it. And not sure that £39.99 is warranted due to the amount of pieces you get. I was expecting around £30 or just over. But I LOVE IT nonetheless.I hope you found this helpful. Please let me know if you did as its nice to know. Thankyou 😊
