I bought these to eliminate the dreaded one hand lift and hold while trying to place the hood hold up rod on my Sprinter. I looked at many brands, and these seemed to be reasonable quality at a decent price, and they are! They are good quality, very good price, and very easy to install. I looked at other brands but the price was very high compared to these. The install was about 15 minutes, and I did have to place a flat washer under the bottom bracket to raise the bracket just a little bit to keep it from rubbing on the fender frame. Do not fret when you install these thinking they are seized as they are not. You cannot move the gas lift by hand, and have to install them, then raise and lower the hood and the pistons will adjust. Time will tell how they hold up, but it is great just lifting the hood and not doing the one hand hold anymore! I recommend these!

I bought this and paid someone to install on my sprinter van since I'm struggling to raise the heavy hood. But now I regret that I replaced the original hood stand. I realized why MB didn't use a hydraulic shock to keep their hood open. It’s super heavy and for safety reason, manual stand is the best option.I found out that when you use these shocks, you need to open the hood all the way, othersiwe the heavy hood will slowly come down and when it's about halfway, it will suddenly slam down violently that if your hands or you head are inside, you may seriously get hurt.These hydraulic shocks are not capable of keeping the hood open halfway. It's not strong enough. Just be mindful when you already have these installed. I don't recommend these shocks.

Ordered these TSUBASSA hood lifts for my 2023 Sprinter 3500XL van. The mounting brackets actually fit as they should with no problems clearing the fenders on both sides. The upper mounts require use of an included silicone spacer/reducer for the mounting bolt. The lift struts seem to be of good quality. Note that they will actually lift the hood higher than the OEM supplied manual lift rod. Installing the lift struts requires raising the hood to its maximum height but once installed the hood lowers a bit as the struts compress. I do like this higher clearance though. Be advised... You will need assistance installing the struts to get the hood high enough to install them on each side. I was able to install the right side by myself but not the left side because you have to remove the existing OEM hood lift rod while simultaneously holding the hood open. Note: One installed strut will NOT support the hood by itself but it works great with both installed. I recommend this product for the 3500XL Sprinters.

Easy to install, easy to follow directions but I will say that it would be easier to install with two people, one to hold the hood open and one to bolt the adapters. Works great, holds the hood open without having to use the stupid little hook that comes from the factory. Come on Mercedes, you should have included this setup!

The factory Mercedes Benz hood support strut is difficult to use with hood add ons making the hood even heavier. These hood supports were very easy to install and took about 10 minutes. The hoods opens easily and the struts push the hood up without effort. The open hood height with these struts is significantly higher angle than the stock single strut allowing for better and safe access to engine fluids.(i.e.oil, DEF, washer fluid). Can’t believe I struggled with the original strut for so long. If you have a MB Sprinter this is a great solution.

overall the hardware quality/etc seems decent, esp for 1/3 the cost of the van shops versions - unfortunately the struts I received were completely seized up and un-usable.update, replacements were seized as well 👎

The media could not be loaded. Nice product, works brilliantly. Easy to fit. 15 min tops. Seen a few reviews saying they received theirs and they were seized. However they can’t be pushed closed by hand. I initially thought mine were seized as I couldn’t push them in by hand. But once fitted they worked perfectly. Added a video to show in action, excuse the dirty van, next job on the list to give it a good clean 😅

Why Mercedes don't fit these as standard is a mystery. Great improvement. Some people have mentioned them being seized before fitting them. You can not compress them by hand. Once on the van they work perfect.

The product is well made & quite refined. Installation is straightforward, however the accompanying instructions could be much better particularly with respect to attaching the strut to either end mounting balls. I almost damaged one end by trying to pressure fit without using a small flat screwdriver to release a retaining clip that is used to capture the ball in the strut end fittings. Nothing mentioned about this in the instructions. Seemed a simple statement or picture would help amateur installers. Other than that, all was good.
