It feels like it’ll last forever in a toolbox. • Affordable game-changer – For the price, it pays for itself quickly by preventing premature belt failure or over-tightening that kills bearings. Cons: • Learning curve on the first use – You need to look up the correct deflection force and span for your specific belt (from a manual, Gates app, or manufacturer chart). It isn’t plug-and-play like a sonic meter, but that’s true for any mechanical gauge. • Not ideal for super-tight engine bays – The tool needs decent access to press perpendicular to the belt.
