Slate Cheese Board with Stainless Steel Handles, Charcuterie Platter Serving Board Tray for Cheese, Crackers, and Meat

I was looking for a cheeseboard for parties for quite awhile and chose this one due to the size and the look of the handles. I loved the sleek and simple look of the handles and it was very easy to attach them when it arrived. However, the cheeses placed on the board left oil marks that do not come off when washed; this isn't a huge deal to me since I'll be putting cheese on it again, but some people may be turned off by that. The biggest reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is questionable durability. When I took the board out of the package there was already a quarter-sized piece of slate that had broken off the board in transport, and when I moved it to put it away after a party another larger chunk broke off, and that chunk went right up to the screw for one of the handles so that handle now feels a bit loose. I worry about carrying the board by the handles in the future as I'm afraid it could break off in that area. I'm hoping to be able to get a few more parties out of this cheeseboard but this may be an instance of getting what I paid for.

This slate board is very high quality, hefty and has a nice weight to it. We did not use it for cheese albeit it would be great for that. Instead we used this to serve sushi platters in a commercial environment.Guests about loved the unique style and feel of this board. We did not have issues with chipping or damage and we even washed this in our dishwasher with no issues. The board can be written on with chalk and washed away. Sauces and other food related residue does not stick to this board and it can easily be wiped away.The only gripe I had is that out of 5 of these, one of them had an issue with the handles. When you purchase these, two stainless steel handles with screws are included for each end of the board. They themselves are quite high quality and look nice however on one of these boards the handle had incorrect machining and the screws would not fit tightly, this meant the handle was always a bit loose when picking up the board. This was never a big deal and never led to any actual damage or issue but it was a minor defect.Otherwise this is a great product with modern, elegant styling and I would highly recommend it for serving cheese and just about any other party type platter item.

This was a beautiful piece of slate but when the handles are attached, there are visible gaps. I tried turning the handles around and changing side until I found the best combination, but there are still small gaps on one side.

I was so reluctant to purchase this item after reading the awful reviews mostly about the screws not lining up with the holes that are pre-drilled..I read them over again and realized that most of the comments were over 1-2yrs old..I decided that the manufacturer might have figured out the issue regarding so many complaints and returns, that they decided to improve their product..I was correct..I took a chance and ordered this item..it came undamaged and packaged well..and believe it or not, the holes were perfectly lined up with the screws as I was the one that put the handles on that came with this item..it is lovely and will really be most impressive when I set it up as a cheese tray in the near future..also purchased some Deco "parchment leaves" to cover the bottom of the tray when I am setting it up with the fruit and various cheeses..I did a practice run to see how all the cheese, crackers and fruit fit on the tray and it looked so professional..I also purchased other "leaves" for the base in case I laid out cookes vs cheese....love this tray..mine arrived in excellent condition and the handles fit perfectly...from my experience, I would gladly recommend to anyone hoping the manufacturer has corrected the previous issues with the handles and screw holes lining up...

Previous reviews for this item were some great, some terrible, but I figured Amazon will always take it back if there's an issue :-). Mine arrived on time, unbroken, unscratched and the holes aligned perfectly with the handles. They even included chalk to write the names of the cheeses on the board. The board itself it rather thinner than I had imagined, but the price is comparable with a melamine tray, so I figure it's a good quality for the price. Note the edges are unfinished, and little chips will come off if you brush or rub the edges. The top is smooth, but unpolished; a natural finish.

this item is bit difficult ( for me ) to review . i do like the slate cheese board; it is not an excellent quality but i simply required a less costly one to use as simple tray. for this purpose ( in bath to hold items ) it is fine. i wanted rough edges, the length & handles; the reason i purchased. the length i received is only 13 inches at longest point & width less than 11. amazon? or whomever, forgot to include the screws for the handles... i can rejoice in the handles do line exact with the holes ** that had been my main concern for many reviews had problems with this. so..... i have a nice , very small , slate tray with handles that aline but which i cannot use for it is too small for purpose and cannot carry as tray :)

The proverbial “you get what you pay for” applies with this product. Clear quality control issues, like screws provided for the handles are too short, need to buy correct screws. Untreated slated, need to apply food-safe mineral spirits to prevent stains. Lastly, box says chaulk not included, but it was. Beautiful when treated, but I would not purchase again with such carelessness in the product.

It’s a very pretty piece but I would not use it as a cheese board. I cleaned this before first use and saw black stains coming off of it, definitely will need to use a plate or something over it before I put food on it.

The board itself it beautiful and sturdy. But the item arrive with missing hardware to screw in the handles. Also the holes for the handles didn't align with the handles so I wouldn't have been able to screw them anyway. It could have been a really great board if a little bit more care was taken to drill tie holes and include all the items.

Do Not Buy This!!!!!! I had to re order as the first one was broken, the replacement came and it is broken and obviously used!!!

The cheese board looked exactly like the picture. It was a nice size. I was able to have 4 different cheeses, some cured meat, fruit and a small glass bowl with almonds on it!

Vraiment magnifique. Grande planche et vient avec deux craies. Super satisfaite!
