My grandson who is almost 4 now has 2 of these! One for home and one for grandma's house so he can help his dad in the yard and garden. Perfect size and very good quality.

Great shovel - we use it for the beach umbrella

I bought 2 of these for my kids once their wooden one with plastic shovel broke. We keep them on our boat so they are already a bit rusty but they do their job & the kids play with them every single time we are in the sand. We also took with us when we drove out on the beach with the truck as it was the perfect size should we get stuck. I won't be buying anymore cheap, flimsy shovels.

My son loves to dig & kids shovels are typically cheap flimsy metal. Not this one. This is a heavy duty kids sized shovel.

Shovel is perfect size for stirring my compost bin. It’s very sturdy and doesn’t rust.

My review is for the product pictured on the left, compared to the leading brand on the right. Although both are great for digging in confined areas and both make awesome durable kids shovels, there are some obvious differences. This one has a fiberglass shaft, which should weather the elements better than wood. The mold for the handle is shaped differently, and the stamp/anvil for the shape of the shovel head is different. The angle of the neck to the head is slightly different, as are the contours of the stamping itself. The head seems just a little bigger, longer, and less contoured on this one, which could prove weaker under a leverage situation, but will hold a little more material. It also comes to a more prominent point, which could prove sharper for cutting roots, but marginally more dangerous for kids. The product feels good in the hands and seems well built in general. It is certainly a way more durable than any kids shovel sold in the toy stores!
