Gave this to my 11 year old grandson for his birthday. He was impressed with the leather case and London insignia. It is well made, and heavy, with a solid feel to the brass, and doesn't feel like a toy, but has the feel of an authentic"relic". Once we realized one has to push it all the way in and then slowly pull out until visuals become clear, (not turn like binoculars) he could see for quite a distance. I highly recommend it for 8 and up. Way too authentic for a preschooler or toddler.

Absolutely loved the gift

The biggest issue I have is the kinda musty smell of the case and a bit from the telescope, I hope that airing it out will get rid of the smell. Telescope came with a little dirt on the inner lens but it was quite easy to take apart so not a big issue. The button on the case fell off and I lost it, which is a little disappointing but it still closed shut. If I still had the button it would probably be fixable. The focus mechanism isn’t intuitive, basically to focus you need to extend or restract the last tube of the telescope. But I do quite enjoy it overall.

I’m very impressed the quality of the equipment however, there is a very aggravating flaw The endcap for the front lens won’t budge. There is nothing I have been able to do gently as possible to remove it so it’s defective and I’m its of no value to me I really would like to have you tell me how to return it or send me a new one because again I like the instrument it’s just useless without being able Remove the lens cap. Please advise as soon as possible so I know where I stand with my purchase. Sincerely Paul Hammond.

A gift to my favorite pirate. He loved it. Great value. Looks and feels very expensive. Highly recommend.

It looks very cool and it works as advertised, however it was poorly assembled. I assume that the tube bearings are some sort of felt as is often used in telescopes. These are a bit loose and consequently the scope sags.

Wow wow wow. I got this for my 11-yr-old daughter because I thought she'd like a pirate-y spyglass. I wasn't expecting the leather(ette?) case to be so cool or the engravings on the scope to be so detailed and beautiful. But I was most amazed at the quality optics - focusing is a snap and the image is very clear. My daughter (and I, obviously) LOVE this spyglass!
