undefinedThis is a beautifully hand crafted chunky four slatted bed frame, made with solid redwood pine. The four posts are a chunky 10cm square and 145cm in height, so would provide the focal point to any bedroom. The top of the slatted head board is roughly 125cm in height and the foot board height is 60cm. The panels on the head board and foot board are 3.5cm (1.35") thick and the vertical slats are almost an inch thick to make a very sturdy piece of furniture. The four panels on both the head board and foot board are 27cm wide, although if you would prefer, there can be five panels, each with a width of 19 or 17cm, or six 14.5cm in width. This bed has a clearance beneath the side rails of 30cm and the slats sit roughly 35cm off the ground. Therefore, on a mattress with a thickness of 20cm, you would lie 55cm off the ground. This can be lowered or increased as you wish. As with all our beds, there are no clips or brackets that support the side rails, which tend to bend over time. Instead, the side rails simply slot deep into the posts. As a result, it should be as strong in ten years time as on the day it is purchased! We use solid wooden slats for the base, rather than thinner plywood sprung slats. The central reinforcing rail is independent of the slats, so can be positioned immediately below, to either give the slats no give whatsoever, or a tiny bit lower, to allow some flexibility in the base. This also means that over time, the slats won't droop in the middle, as the middle rail will act as a constant buffer. The wood can be left unfinished, stained, waxed or oiled. The main bed in the photo has been finished with an oak stain, the second bed has been finished with a walnut stain. Please find the full specifications below.
