Susan Bates has the best hooks. I like the placement of the flat part of the hook.

I love this company and their hooks, but this hook seems very fragile and if not careful will warp. I felt it it bend while I was using it. So I hold it more closer to the hook part. I understand that the material is what it is, but perhaps not adding the stamp so deep to those particular size. Either way, it works; just be careful.

Was bent....probably due to shipping. Straightened out ok. Haven't used yet...hope it doesn't bend again. Size B1

I'm a big Susan Bates fan, though these don't seem to be 'finished', the edge of the hooks are very sharp and kept cutting my yarn as I was crocheting. I stopped and used a file to smooth out the edges which helped. I am using them for smaller and tighter stitches but at times it feels like they might bend too much and I'm wondering if they would be better if made from steel.They are no longer made in the US so I suspect that's why there is a lack in the quality I'm used to. I would recommend them, but just check the edges of the hook before you begin your work.

I have a bunch of these in different sizes so this is kind of a general review. These were the ONLY style of crochet hook I could use at all when I first began crocheting. The other kind of hook design, where the hook part is not in line with the handle, made it impossible for me to crochet since I made my stitches very tightly. I relaxed since then so I can use both kinds but I still enjoy using these. The metal coating on these hooks is really smooth and the yarn glides on it well. I have noticed some of the actual hook parts on these have been sharp in places. I didn't have a single problem with this hook I ordered. The mfg. box it came in looked a little shelf worn but in my case it didn't stay in the box longer than a minute upon opening my order. It would have been just "ok" if it was going to be a gift, but it was for myself so the packaging wasn't important.
