Utterly Fantastic!
With all the outrage and madness going on in the world, seeing everything being censored and/or removed. It put me in the mood for some good old Mel Brooks films. If I was going to start anywhere, it was of course going to be the now legendary Blazing Saddles.Blazing Saddles is a satirical western comedy film directed by Mel Brooks and produced by Michael Hertzberg. The film was written by Brooks, Andrew Bergman, Richardyor and more. It was released in 1974 through Warner Bros and stars the legendary Gene Wilder and Cleavon Little. There's a large amount of cameos from the likes of Dom DeLuise, Madeline Kahn and even the legendary musician Count Basie.I would be surprised if there were people out there didn't know what this film was about. But for those who don't, Blazing Saddles is a satirical look at racism and the old Hollywood western films. The dastardly bad guys are looking to make a fortune through the new railroad but a town stands in their way. To scare off the white towns folks, the bad guys send a black slave out to be their hero and saviour in the form of the town sheriff. The plot is nice and basic, has plenty of fun stereotypical western tropes and is held together by tonnes of timeless jokes. The film is mostly known for it's use of the "N" word. In fact, that would be true. The film uses it quite a lot. The context in which it is used is where all the fun is. This is a firm slap in the face to racism. If there's something to poke fun at, they do it. You'll see fun jabs at blacks, whites, biker gangs, Hitler, Nazi's and even the KKK. It's all there, it's all firmly on the nose and they don't care one bit. It's hilarious and something you couldn't do in 2020.The bluray looks surprisingly good and is easily an upgrade to my old DVD. For whatever reason, I was expecting this to look as average as the Spaceballs hi-def release. But the film looks great through out. The picture looks consistently clean, very sharp and has lots of strong colours through out. Blazing Saddles is not a film that needs a high quality release being so grounded in dust and tumble weeds but they've put some love into it. I can't complain one bit.As far as comedy films goes, Mel Brooks has a lot of classic films under his belt but this one knocks it out of the park. This film is an all out classic and it needs to be in your collection alongside Monty Python's Holy Grail etc.

Comedic masterpiece !
This is probably one of the most irreverent comedies I have ever seen. Probably wouldn't be able to make something like it in these days of PC and wokeness, but the irony is that it uses the in your face use of bigotry to poke fun and point out the lunacy of racism and pretty much most other "isms" which were known of at the time.Don't watch if you're easily offended by the use of the N word, sexism, racism etc... but watch and love it if you can see beyond the use of these to the important message behind it.The film is helped by masterful performances by the stars.Personally I can't get enough of it and the one liners are often thrown back and forth between my friends and I resulting in fits of laughter.

Excuse me while I whip this out!
This is one of my most watched films. Excellent viewing for a Sunday afternoon. But because its so watched I actually wore out the DVD we had. Seeing as they had released a Blu Ray edition I was quick to snap it up. The picture quality and sound are just fantastic. The film has a whole new life due to this remaster. The farting cowboys scene is great through my surround sound speakers. Overall I'm very pleased to have one of the finest comedies ever made in such great quality.

Funniest film ever
Watched this with two teenage kids and a 10 year old.Hilarious.A great combination of physical humour, verbal humour, narrative humour, and downright silliness. Our concern was that our kids have no access to the Cowboy genre and wouldn't be able to follow it. We need not have worried. The way the film laughs at racists is brilliant. A sense of humour which pricks the bubble of well meaning but still Racist white folk - but by using satire, not anger. I wish the vibe of this film could fall across the USA and UK right now. We'd all feel better and make more progress on racial issues faster and with more togetherness.

Blaze of Glory
I had seen this film years ago, but was prompted to buy it in case it was banned by the PC Thought Police. The version I saw didn't have that absurd trigger warning, though there was quite a bit of trigger-happy shooting. It is one of the funniest films ever made. Gloriously un-PC it sends up everything about the Western, prejudice, ignorance, and every race going. It's also surreal and wacky, and makes me realised just how much in later comedy was nicked from - or more kindly, inspired by - this great film.I would thoroughly recommend this, though it may put you off baked beans for life.

Classic Non-PC Comedy
I've watched this film numerous times and see new gags, nuances and jokes on every screening. Nope, it's definitely not 'WOKE' but it is a great poke in the eye for those too stuck in their own greatness to see the humour and satire; it's a brilliant parody of a classic western, the spoof of dreams.Mel Brooks' script and story telling, with great acting from Gene Wilder and Cleavon Little and of course, Harvey Korman as Heddy, sorry, Hedley Lamarr are a treat. Definitely recommended but not for those easily offended!

Classic Comedy Gold
An irreverent look at dealing with stereotypical interracial abuse with the power of humor. I bought this as this film is now not played on TV, due to the political correct brigade getting it removed. This film is a classic, and it is a favourite of mine.

Beware of some of the language....
A mad, over the top film from Mel Brooks (could it be anything else) that quite simply challenges racism head on with some laugh out loud daftness and humour. In fact racism is made to look truly idiotic by Brooks, who in the final scenes of the movies doesn't quite seem to know how to end things. Last word should go to Mongo though, "Mongo pawn in game of life". Indeedy, deedy do.
