It's a big ferrite magnet! Has strong force too. I'd have liked if it came coated with some lacquer or varnish. In shipping it was slightly chipped, but it's okay. I think these are good magnets to play with and understand how to handle them without getting pinched. I could only imagine what rare-earth magnets would be like!

Loved it. Pretty powerful magnet. Needs five fingers to pry off when i stuck it to an almirah. Major reason I bought this was for my kids. To have fun with the iron dust you get in beaches. It worked like a charm!

The magnet is powerful but not as powerful as it needs to be. The retraction distance is only 2cms. If someone is looking for a magnet that can join from at least 2-3", this isn't the magnet for the job. It can be used for simple things like retrieving keys from a drainage or other metals from a big opening.
