improved my game
After a few rounds with these clubs, which I haven't even fitted yet, and I know I really like them. The design took a bit to take to, feeling very modern with numerous angles and facets. But they look good when addressing the ball, and its large club face gives me more confidence that I'll actually hit the ball. What really made me a fan is how it feels when striking the ball and the performance. There's that buttery smooth click when hitting it true. And even on mis-hits, it's more forgiving on my hands, damping the worst of the shock and vibration. The distances are about one club length better than my old set, so it took a bit of time to adjust my game play. My 8 iron used to be my 145 yard club, but I now use the 9 iron. The ball definitely rolls more, so I will sometimes even drop 2 clubs for that extra 10 yard roll. I was worried that this set didn't come with a 3 iron as that was my 190 yard club, but the 4 iron in this set easily fills that role.My handicap is 36, so stringing 2 solid iron shots back to back was rare. I'm regularly doing that now with these irons. In fact, on shorter par 4's, I'm opting to tee off with an iron instead of a driver or wood as these are more consistent while giving me more than enough distance to reach the green on the second shot. The only times I didn't get on the green was because the second shot was TOO long - I'm still dialing in the right distances.Honestly, these are very expensive clubs, almost $200 an iron. And I seriously would never have considered that kind of investment in a new brand using new tech. I guess that's why Amazon has the Vine program, so regular people can try and test new products. And I'm still unsure if I would spend this much since I only play a few rounds a year and my handicap has never improved in over 20 years of trying. But for younger folks who have aspirations of golf greatness, the PXG brand and this set of irons is definitely something you should consider. Then again, would you take advice from a 36 handicap golfer? Well, I know it makes me enjoy golf more and it is saving me a few strokes (PER HOLE!), which is worth at least one grain of salt.If I find that these truly are improving my game over time, then I will seriously consider the driver and woods, which are the siren calls in my golf game, constantly drawing my golf balls into the deep, dark woods of oblivion.

I love these irons!
The clubs themselves are very attractive and correspond perfectly with the photos in the description. As you would expect from anything manufactured by PXG, the construction appears to be of the very highest quality. I got mine with steel shafts in Regular flex and I'm including a photo of one of the shafts. I have been playing golf for a very long time and used to be a single digit handicapper until about 20 years ago, at which point my skills embarked on a steady and precipitous decline owing to nagging injuries coupled with a steadfast refusal to ever go to the range. I figured that I would try these clubs, which are clearly advertised as Game Improvement (GI) clubs targeted for beginners and people who aren't very good at golf. One aspect of most GI clubs is that the lofts are stronger than regular clubs so that, right out of the box without changing anything, you will now hit your 7 iron as far as your old 6 iron. That's because you now have a 6 iron that is just labeled as a 7 iron. PXG is completely upfront about this by posting the lofts in the fourth picture of the item description. Here are the lofts of the PXG's compared to my four year old Srixon ZX5 set (designed for medium to good players) and my twenty plus year old Ping S59 set (aimed at very good players). PXG ZX5 s592 Iron 18.5°3 Iron 20° 21°4 Iron 18° 22° 23.8°5 Iron 20° 24° 27°6 Iron 23° 27° 30.5°7 Iron 27° 31° 34.3°8 Iron 31° 35° 38.3°9 Iron 36° 39° 42.5°PW 41° 44° 47°As you can see, the PXG's are about one club stronger than the ZX5 set and even stronger lofted than the old Pings. This has left a big loft gap between the PW and my next club, which is a 50 degree gap wedge. I'll probably solve this by buying a PXG 47 degree gap wedge. and ditching my 50 degree.I don't know whether it's the design or the look of these clubs, but they just inspire confidence when you stand over them. I wouldn't even think about carrying a 3 iron any more, but I am crushing this 5 iron high and straight while trying to ignore the fact that it has the same loft as the Srixon 3 iron. These clubs get up in the air fast and stay there for a while. I am hitting the 5 iron about as long as my 4 Rescue, so I took it out of the bag. I've even had success with the 4 iron, although I now wish that I ordered a 5-GW set. So, to net it out, I'm hitting the same lofts with these clubs farther than the same lofts with the Srixons. I used to hit a 6 iron 150 and now I hit a 7 iron (same loft) farther than that. It's fun to misclub yourself by hitting it too far.I've played 2 rounds with these clubs and have been hitting into greens with irons where I would almost always have been forced to whip off a head cover and use a rescue, which is depressing. You do not get the feedback or workability of non-GI clubs, but I don't care because the feedback was usually something along the line of "you hit that very poorly". I love these clubs and would recommend them to golfers who have been playing for a long time and experiencing a loss of distance, which leads to a loss of confidence. I can't wait to play again with this set of irons.

Beautiful clubs, much longer than expected
I ordered the 5-GW, Ladies graphite for my golf-newbie wife. With nice weather finally upon us, we were finally able to take them out and give them a few swings.First, the clubs are gorgeous - very sleek. I really liked the grip (of course I had to hit them first :) - it feels perfect in your hands. The other thing I noticed is that these are very long. The five iron is the same length as my 3-irons - so now it makes sense why the lowest you can get is a 4, which is probably like hitting a 2.When you hit the ball right, it has a great feel. When you don't, it still feels pretty good.Given our (in)ability level, I'm not sure we'll be able to tell how much it helps her game. We'll be taking them out next week and I will update later.
