The blade is super sharp
This was the answer to all of my workshop problems for a sharp saw that took little effort to cut. The quality of the saw is very evident from the time I first started using it. The handle is wood/ bamboo and it’s comfortable to use for cutting for a long time. The blade is extremely sharp and is very thin and fine. The blade was so good that it actually cut through a piece of brass tubing although I don’t really recommend using it for that. I think that as long as you take good care of it that it should last for many years.

Edit: customer service is great, new saw is wonderful
Edit: in my original review I mentioned that I had reached out to support about the bent saw. They were very easy to work with and shipped out a replacement same day - insane customer service. The saw itself is great and I’ve already used it to test cut some stuff and do a few dovetailed parts and it works a treat, perfectly straight cuts and the teeth are just aggressive enough. Excellent buy.

Nice grip, good in tight spaces, love the size.
First, let me say, I am by no means used to working with wood or saws. That being said, I learned something that I wish I had researched better. This saw will not saw thru plywood. The way that plywood is generally made, it has no actual grain rendering this saw useless. My mistake and no reflection on the saw. Recently I have been trying to remove old dead lilac trees. They range from a couple inches to about five inches in diameter. My neighbor lent me his saw (the bow type). I'm not very strong so cutting through the thick lilac wood (I swear, it's like iron wood) took forever and damn near killed me. So I thought I'd try this saw. For us amateurs, I really couldn't tell the difference in regard to it sawing on the "pull" and not the "push". However, I did keep it in mind so I wouldn't ruin the saw. I really liked the handle of this saw. It was much more comfortable in my hand while exerting myself than the bow shaped saw. I picked a bad day to do this, it rained the night before so I was able to cut thru a 2" piece of lilac. But anything bigger just took too much effort. I'll try again after the wood dries out. I did have excellent results using it to cut a nuisance maple growing too near the house. It was probably about 3 yrs old and 10 ft +. It wasn't very big in circumference, maybe a couple inches. The saw cut thru this "like butter"! Overall, for cutting any type of natural wood I would choose this saw over the western style. The compact size helped me a lot with grip and leverage. And the lilacs I'm trying to clean up are packed in a tight group, which would be difficult to cut using a standard American saw. I'm looking forward to giving those tough old lilac branches another shot when they dry out. Okay, just an update. I went after those dead lilac trees again after they dried out. They were a good 4 inches across or more. Took a little muscle on my weakling behalf, but worked well! These are great saws!

Easy to use, surgically sharp, micro thin kerf, highly recommend!!
Not only my favorite saw, this is my favorite tool in the shop. Been using it for several weeks. The kerf is ridiculously thin and the teeth are surgically sharp; you have to be very careful not to ding the teeth on anything or they will bend (I biffed a couple teeth and had to push them back into line w/thumbnail but after I did it is back to clean cutting and smooth to use; I'll order replacement blades in case of accident on the job). The cut it produces is the closest to perfect finish I've gotten off ANY saw EVER. It draws easily due to thin kerf & lotta teeth per inch. The long handle is easy on the hand. The folding feature means I can take it to the work on the job and not worry about protecting the teeth like non-folding types. I heard about it from Jonathan Katz Moses' U-tube channel. I'll order the folding Suizan Ryoba saw shortly for a matched pair. I use this saw to start any cut for accuracy, then switch to a fatter kerf saw if needed for deep cuts. Like Jonathan said, use little more than the saw's weight, don't bear down, and it should cut well and fast just by pulling it straight thru the cut. If I'm making a deep cut this will set up the kerf line to maybe an inch deep & the next (3x kerf) saw will track right down the initial cut to continue to depth. Highly recommend this brand and this saw (I have a variety including one other made in Japan pull saw, hands down the Suizan is faster & cleaner cutting and way thin!)

Easy and accurate
This is my first Japanese saw so this may be true of the manufacturer and the style. The saw exceeded my already inflated expectations. Sharp, light and feels good in my hand. I went straight to a piece of poplar for a set of cuts and I was very impressed with the ease and accuracy to cut right to the line. Did a 5 minute dovetail drill (thanks G Rogowski!) and it was so much easier than I expected. The kerf is about the same as my Lie Nielsen and on a side by side I couldn’t see a difference. One thing - it isn’t a speedy cut - my LN cut in less strokes but more difficult for me to start. Extremely pleased on what is great quality at a value price.

I love how small it is when it’s folded up, fits great in my Dewalt Tstak drawers. The handle has a nice grip texture to it and once folded up and locked in position it’s solid and doesn't feel like its going to fall apart when using it
