Should have purchased it sooner!
I kept putting this off as I was sure my catbirds and blue birds would take the meal worms from a well hung plate but no..... when I placed this on the feeding stations with the mealworms they were immediately thankful - they prefer to sit on the wooden edge to pluck the worms and one will venture on to the screen. This came assembled, the screen is removable, super simple and easy and rain easily passed through - and the birds actually prefer them a little moist so there seems to be no issues!

Lovely wooden feeder
I honestly don't think I can get enough bird feeders for my front yard. I have loved the variety of wildlife it has brought for me and my family to see. I loved the design of this one when I saw it, no more wasted water logged seeds and a very open base for birds of all sizes. The only thing that disappointed me when it arrived was the unfinished wood. It's more likely to weather and deteriorate unless it has a protective coating added to it. So that is what I am planning to do before I put it out there. The screen/mesh base of the unit is metal and coated in a paint of some type so that is great. I love the way the cables for hanging are not all attached making installation in a tree sooo much easier! Really I think this is a fabulous little feeder.

Good Platform Feeder.
This is a good quality platform feeder. It's not the best one I've ever bought, but it will do the job. My only real complaint is that the hanging straps are not as thick as the one on my previous platform feeder, although it shouldn't matter since I'm not expecting elephants to fly in and land on it!It's well-constructed and won't easily come apart. To clean, just tip it over, knock off the excess stuck seed, and spray it off with the hose. The one I received hangs straight and feels very sturdy with supports that cross the frame underneath the mesh landing pad. You can smell that it's cedar when you break through the plastic packaging, so it should last a long time even with exposure to the elements. This type of feeder is great for attracting larger birds such as cardinals, bluejays, and mourning doves. Depending on where you hang it, it may also be a magnet for squirrels who will happily sit in it and stuff their cheeks as it swings to and fro, so keep that in mind when you're picking the "perfect spot" for it.

Great deal
This is a beautiful, simple, feeder. Since I've gotten into feeding the birds I've found I prefer a tray with mesh the best. Anything with drilled holes gets clogged no matter what. This will require less and easier cleaning. This tray is quite wide also, so for better or worse will provide access to a variety of birds. A tray type is the best if you're looking to maximize the variety of visitors. Squirrels will find easy access though, so that is a drawback. Overall though it is very well made and a great value. The wood smelled so good out of the packaging! You will need your own hook/hanging hardware.

Well made and very sturdy
There was no assembly of this feeder. It came out of the package ready to go. The base is made of a very solid Cedar. It is a good weight, and is very balanced. The hangers are coated cables that are screwed into the sides and crimped at the bottom. At the top they are crimped to form a nice loop for hanging. The mesh bottom isn’t attached, but is a metal screen that is the perfect size and fits exactly. No need to worry about any seed slipping through the sides. The mesh screen could be a little lower to provide a deeper tray for the seed. Overall, this is a well constructed bird feeder that should last a long time.

Sturdy, balanced, and birds love it.
This is a very sturdy feeder that is well balanced, and the birds love it. It is made with substantial wood and has a coated cable for the hanger. It has a looped hanger on each end so you can slide one off for easy cleaning. The screen is made with nice heavy wire that can be removed for cleaning. It stays pretty well balanced even if you get most of the food on one side or a large bird gets on it to eat. The birds enjoy this feeder. I think this would make a nice gift for any bird lover. They would love how sturdy and balanced it is as well as the fact that the birds love and flock to it.

What you see isn't what you get
Picture shows sides screwed together and additional screws at bottom for support of the screen. In reality the corners are each joined by 1 nail gun brad(which was very easy to pull apart) and the screen supports are 1" thick pieces of wood mounted in the middle of the 2" high sides. This leaves less than an inch between the "bottom" screen and the top of the sides. Holds very little seed and will be a mess when the Blue jays start acting up.

Tilts
The actual feeder part works fine and holds a good amount of feed. The bad part is if a bird lands anywhere but the center of the feeder. Then the supports slide and the tray is tilted.I'm thinking of how to correct this so I don't need to throw the whole thing out
