This is the motor that works!
The fan motor in your swamp cooler has died? You need a replacement?DO NOT BUY THE DIAL BRAND MOTOR!!!I purchased two different dial brand motors from local Home Depot and Lowe's.Both were very weak and slow to start. Also kept shutting off from load.I returned both for refunds and subsequently read reviews that others are having the same problem..I ordered this motor from Amazon "Century".The motor could not be better.Very fast to start. The proper RPMs immediately.Very quiet.Lowe's, Home Depot ,Ace Hardware the local evaporative cooler Warehouse, only carry the dial brand Motors. VERY BAD!!!!Was so happy to see this Century brand available on Amazon for a reasonable price.Don't waste your time on the DIAL brand motorUpdate: 4 weeks later.Since I have a second swamp cooler, and the local stores only carry The Junkie dial brand motor, I have purchased a second motor from Amazon to have on hand.Of course I tested this 2nd motor, and I find it works just as the first. PERFECT !If you need a motor that works ??This is it.

two 56Z frames?
This fit my 1960's swamp cooler with modification. I had replaced motor before with a Grainger Dayton motor years ago. They no longer made it so I started looking for a replacement. It said on the nameplate it had a 56Z frame and this century motor said it was a 56Z frame. But when I received this motor it was about 1 1/4" shorter than the old one. Started to order a new frame but my old one is a long one piece that would not have easily been replaced. So I took a large C-clamp and squeezed the ears together on the old one bending them until they lined up with the new motor mounts. Had to take pliers and straighten the ears back vertical and then reused my old clamps. The motor then fit almost perfectly. I am no electrician but it is hard to believe they are two 56Z specs. You would think it would be standard dimensions. The motor looked shorter in the picture and it was. But I made it work so maybe you can too. The motor works fine after installation.

Perfect Replacment for Old Overheating Swamp Cooler Motor
It fit perfectly and doesn't shut down from overheating every 10 minutes like our old motor. Install wasn't too difficult, other than some corroded screws on the old motor holding the wiring cover plate on. New motor gets slightly warm, as it should, compared to the old one which was uncomfortable to hold your hand on.

Super Quiet!
Wow, this one is really quiet compared to the old one I had to replace. For those that are looking for an exact replacement for the Frostline 320P436 Motor, this one is the same size and everything. I couldn't see the other side of this motor so I took a chance! Here are better pictures for you.

Solid built motor
This motor is solid. It is quite heavy and solid, always a good sign for a motor. Time will tell, how well it holds up, but I imagine it should stand the test of time.As others have said there is no base for this unit, which is disappointing, but for the price ($50 from Amazon warehouse, at time of this writing,) who cares.Pros:SolidGreat PriceCons:Picture needs updated to reflect lack of baseLink should be added to description, where to buy base.
