Timberland PROMen's Leather RFID Wallet with Removable Flip Pocket Card Carrier

My boyfriend received his new credit card that replaced his magnetic strip with RFID. While the technology makes it easier for wireless transactions and minimizes contact during the pandemic, it does open the door for potential RFID skimming which is becoming more popular. Social distancing or not, having a card or cards that can send a radio signal wirelessly to someone who may be walking around with a skimmer seems a little risky. Not wanting to take the chance, we decided to err on the side of caution with a RFID blocking wallet. While he hates change and loves his old wallet, this was one thing that got no argument. Since his current wallet is a Timberland (of 12 years) it was an easy choice for him to select one almost identical to what he was using. Soft, durable and handles everything in his current wallet. Best of all, it comes with a hard case for later storage or to be reused for knick knacks!

This is a nice looking well-made leather wallet. However, there are some drawbacks. The card slots are very tight. It's all you can do to get one card into the slots, and difficult to get out. And when you insert the flip ID holder, the wallet is very fat. I sat a 50 pound weight on top of the wallet before I started using it, and its still fat. After a few days with the fat wallet in my hip pocket, I switched back to my old wallet.UPDATED REVIEWIn the initial review I mentioned that the card slots were too tight, and the wallet too fat. I had some old cards (i.e., membership cards, insurance cards, expired credit cards, etc.) and forced two cards into each slot. I let the wallet sit for a week with a weight on it. After a week the card slots stretched out with the two cards in each slot. The cards are now much easier to put in and take out. The weight I put on the wallet helped to flatten the wallet a bit, but it is still rather thick with the flip out ID holder. I am using the wallet now and hopefully it will flatten more over time. All in all, it's a nice wallet. It just takes some breaking in.

The card slots are extremely tight for such a big wallet. It's even worse when you try to put a card in every slot. They protrude outward causing bulk. Everything else about this wallet is outstanding. If you like big, bulky wallets with tight card slots then this one is for you.
