I honestly prefer to use speedstick if I'm tattooing myself, but since you'd either have to make your own mix or open up a fresh stick to use on each customer to keep things sanitary, stencil stuff is my go-to. It works quite nicely if you apply it generously, rub it in well, let it dry until just barely tacky, firmly apply the stencil, and then allow it to dry completely before you begin to tattoo (the longer you wait the better it holds up, really). It's pretty expensive, so if you want to saver a few bucks I'd suggest looking up how to make your own stencil 'stuff' on youtube using speedstick and some other household ingredients.

Completed the tattoo in the picture after about 4-1/2 to 5 hours, very minimal fade or stencil loss. As a disclaimer though, I worked all of the finer lines first, worked from the bottom up and dabbed the ink instead of wiping. This was only the 4th tattoo I've ever done. Aside from the artistry flaws, the stencil longevity was great!

I love that you just need a dime size where you’re gonna work let it dry for few seconds before adding your stencil and let stick for 5 seconds at least and take off stencil and let it dry. My stencil stayed on for so long while doing my work a lot better than smearing everywhere. So glad I bought it! A little bit goes a long way as well

I’ve been tattooing for awhile and this is the best cream for placing stencils on the skin!!! It last long enough so you can finish tattooing no matter how many time you over it with Vaseline, green soap, or anything else. Definitely recommend it!!!!
