Datel Action Replay (Xbox)

I didn't buy it for the cheats, I bought it for softmodding. It worked fine, it's just the drivers were a bit iffy. The savegames for mechassault went over fine, and it installed EvolutionX then later on Debian just fine. Did what I needed it to do.

This is an absolutely essential piece of hardware if you're intending to softmod your Xbox to put XBMC on it (as is a copy of Splinter Cell!).You'll be pleased to hear that the memory card reader and the software work really well, it only took an afternoon to go from a stock 1.5 Xbox to a softmodded machine running XBMC 4 XBOX.Get this, you won't be disappointed. Worth it's 5 stars.

I have owned most consoles, and every one that has had an Action Replay product for it, I have bought it - game enhancing codes (infinite health, lives, etc) are great for getting the most out of your games...But, unlike all other 'Action Replays' that allow you to enter codes to 'enhance' the game, Xbox action replay is merely a system for exchanging game saves...Yes, there will be game saves available that will have all levels unlocked, etc.... this may be appropriate in some cases, but in general, I don't want to be limited to starting from one or two 'snapshots' of a game... I want to be able to play my own way through the game, with one or two enhancements to make it possible / enjoyable... ie. I want a code based system...Do *not* buy this on the basis of what the 'Action Replay' name has represented in the past - this simply is *not* that product... (and as such, I personally find it *extremely* misleading that they have chosen to use this moniker)...

my son really enjoyed using this to help him play his games to their full potential. came quickly and well packed

I bought the XBOX Action Replay on launch day, and read the description on what it does, and thought yeah they finally have cracked the XBOX to finally offer a cheating device, although this is not the case.Let me explain, the XBOX AR works as a save device, whereby save can be downloaded using the AR software to your PC from the AR website and transfer to the AR Memory card which then has to be tranferred to your XBOX harddisk, so basically you are getting a save for the game that opens up the games extras and any cheats that are already associated with the particular game, if a save is available.As for providing unlimited cheats for game this is not the case, currently the Microsoft protection algorithm does not allow a full cheating device to be created for the XBOX, so unless cheats can be unlocked in the original game that the game makers have put in there themselves, don't expect any other cheats to be available, just saves that either the AR people create or other members of the online community create.With this in mind, I have found the XBOX AR definitely worth the price as the saves that are available are very good and the service offered is great, and for a first cheating device for the XBOX this is exceptional and will only improve over time and support from us XBOX users.I would definitely recommend this to anyone, so have no fear in buying it, you will not be disappointed...
