Excellent small portable radio
Very sensitive radio that lives up to its reputation. The ability to hook up external antennas eg passive and active loops, long wires on all wavebands and can use the telescopic on mw and lw for brilliant results in electrically quiet areas. Superb value for money with many features not available in radios of a similar size or indeed any current production portable radio. Very high quality front end giving the radio high dynamic range, exceptional by portable standards. Excellent audio for a small portable and the large number of bandwidth options on AM and FM are very useful. Highly recommended for listeners interesting in dxing or for those looking for better than average results for general reception on all wavebands.

Great audiophile portable radio
I live in a HoA community in the Northeast US with outdoor antenna restrictions. My reception is almost entirely captured from indoors. The Qodosen DX-286 radio receives very well on FM and AM/MW bands, and good on SW bands (better than other SW portables I own). The radio captures FM-RDS digital station data if selected to do so from the radio setup menu. This radio does not offer USB or LSB reception, however I am able to receive NOAA Weather when set to MW range and dial to 1667 for my area (this is somewhat off center from my NOAA frequency, but still easily readable). The DX-286 does quite well to filter and reject various noise within my community location. I've had no luck so far capturing LW broadcasts, though I must state that LW stations are almost extinct these days. --- Lastly, I purchased a Goozeezoo GA800 rechargeable active loop antenna to attached externally to my DX-286 (note: follow all Manuals instructions closely). This loop antenna has notably improved my AM/MW and SW reception (when the integrated signal boost is "turned on") by easily 30%+ and audio louder and more clearly. The GA800 antenna can be turned 360 degrees, which helps better tuning in these stations directionally. With the signal boost "turned off", it operates about as well as the DX-286 radio itself, which is quite good, but allows for an external antenna proximate to a window for more reception. Do not "turn on" the signal boost when operating FM bands. It is unnecessary and may overload your DX-286 radio front end. Lotta information here but I believe that you will enjoy the Qodosen DX-286 if you enjoy broadcast radio (and perhaps don't trust Bluetooth/WiFi or app-connecting radios).

Outstanding portable
This is an outstanding portable. I have been able to receive signals that I never thought possible. To begin with, I put the radio's performance against other well-regarded portables I own and the 286 came up a winner by far on all bands - LW, MW, SW, FM. Then I put it against desktop amateur radio base transceivers I have and the 286 came out with solid results, in some cases offering a more legible output to an identical signal. The features of the 286 that give the listener superpowers- whether you are merely seeking the best reception or whether you are seeking DX are to (1) utilize the antenna switching options - internal/external and couple it with the appropriate antenna for the job you want done, (2) adjust the AM filtering or FM bandwidth of the incoming signal and (3) utilize the adjustment on how it processes FM signals. Working these in various combinations makes it possible to get the 286 to focus and, after some thinking for a few seconds, the radio begins to lock-in on signals and stays there. I have found that the 286 will pull in signals on your target frequency that you never knew possible. LW, MW and FM are outstanding. SW is as good as it gets! The ergonomics are very good. The size of the unit (smaller than what you think) is ideal for travel and it comes with its own hard-case for protection, which can fit a few charging accessories as well. I got mine with the unique-type battery-included, so it was good right out of the box without hassle and it charges directly through the radio. The speaker gives good output for the size. This radio immediately put all my others into the drawer and I can't recommend it highly enough. At this price, you should have already ordered one for yourself by now...

Amazing radio!
The most sensitive portable I’ve ever owned. A great performer on AM (MW) with just the internal antenna. Excellent SW performance and FM is also quite sensitive. If the radio had SSB/CW mode I’d give it six stars! It is now my go to travel portable for DXing.
