Solid Chair Mat
This is a solid chair mat. It is much sturdier than others that I am reading about that leave indents due to being a softer material. This is much stronger and thicker of material and does not leave indents as far as I can tell. The spikes on the bottom of the mat are pretty sharp and grip the carpet good, especially if you have low pile carpet. Be careful in that case not to drag the mat across the carpet. It stays put very well. Nice mat so far.

Tough stuff
This is a great chair mat that is worth the cost. It was well protected during shipping and arrived intact. We have it on a carpeted surface, and it causes no tripping hazards. Smooth and polished; it's doing its job.

Low price, but dents easily and poor glide
If you're tight on cash, this floor mat might be a suitable option for you. However, if you want a mat that is both sturdy and easy to roll around on, you will likely be disappointed -- as I am -- in this mat. I am lean and below average weight, and my office chair is small (not a heavy, high-back chair). Yet sitting in my chair on this floor mat creates lasting dimples in the mat, and the wheels on my chair tend to get stuck in those dimples, making it hard to roll around to a different position at my desk. Furthermore, the material the mat is made out of has more drag to it than my old mat (which it replaced); that friction also makes it relatively harder to maneuver my chair. My old mat also had beveled edges, which I now regret not having with this new mat because they allowed me to simply roll back onto the mat when the chair accidentally rolled off it. With this new mat, I've got to lift my chair up over the edge of the mat to get it back onto it. Finally, the spikes on the bottom of this mat are not very large; rolling my chair around on the mat tends to make the mat migrate slightly, necessitating my removing the chair and repositioning the mat every few days (I use this mat on a carpeted floor with medium pile). The aggravation with all these issues is not worth the savings in price for me. But because the price is so low, I gave the product two stars instead of one to reflect the savings.UPDATE (two years after purchase): I'm lowering the rating for this floor mat to 1 star. After only two years of use, it is beginning to deteriorate: the mat is beginning to crack, and the edge on one side is curling up. The curling is due to the following: the mat slides around a lot, and on dozens of occasions when I've tried to roll my chair back onto it, the chair would get stuck on the edge and curl it upward. I will never buy a cheap floor mat like this again; the aggravation is not worth the savings. The mat that this replaced lasted at least 10 years before it cracked, never slid out of its initial position, and its beveled edges allowed sliding chairs on and off it without having to lift the chair up over the edge (unlike with this model I'm reviewing here). If you are extremely strapped for cash, this mat might be your only choice. People with more money at their disposal will likely, like me, find the aggravation and short lifespan of this product not worth the savings.

Great customer service!
-- Updated review - although I experienced an issue with the product, the seller reached out to me and rectified the issue. I must admit I was shocked and very impressed - so impressed I felt the need to update my review to 5 stars for the customer service! Thanks!-- Original review:You may want to read the other reviews as they're spot on... this mat has cracked on the first day of use. The mat wasn't abused.. literally just a chair sitting on the mat, and the mat is on carpet. Bummed, but that's life I guess.

Just what I needed
Needed a mat for my rolling desk chair to protect my hardwood floors, and this looks great and works perfectly.

UPDATED: NOT the chair mats of just a few years ago!
UPDATE:It's now a year later, and my mat has multiple cracks. I never was able to get it to stay in place. Based on these 2 things, I can't recommend this product.ORIGINAL POST:For those thinking this is just a different marketing take on the thick vinyl floor mats you're familiar with, it is not. I don't know exactly what the material is, but it's not vinyl. I'd liken it to flexible Lexan. It's VERY stiff, but at the same time both thinner and lighter than any vinyl chair mat I've ever seen. There is one small issue I'll touch on later. It comes rolled up, which caused me to cringe when I opened the box, thinking it'd never get it fully flat. Ha! Peel off the tape, and it sprang open faster than a sprung mouse trap into a COMPLETELY flat chair mat. Being so light, it was easy to carry around and set in place. As far as performance goes, it provides a solid surface for the chair casters, and because it's so stiff, it takes minimal effort to get the chair to move (much less so than any other chair mat I've seen); it just glides over it like it was glass. Even with a 200 pound adult in a heavy chair, there is only the slightest indication of deflection. By comparison, vinyl floor mats deflect far more, even the real thick ones.As far as longevity/durability, I haven't had it long enough to be able to say. However, it's my opinion it will be quite durable and last a very long time - much longer than even a thick vinyl floor mat. Most of my previous chair mats have failed because over time, deflection weakens them eventually leading to full on cracks. Given the minimal deflection and stiffness of this chair mat, I just don't see that happening.Lastly, the small issue: It doesn't stay in place very well. I've had many char mats, and this is the first time I've not had one stay in place. This thing can drift around several inches in a week, mostly forward in my case. If the manufacturer is "listening," I think longer carpet spikes would solve the problem!Overall, this is a good product, one that I recommend - as long as you don't mind moving it back into place every so often. ***SEE UPDATE ABOVE!

Good quality and sturdy
This chair mat was great for my office. I was very surprised on the quality of the material. I put it over an area rug and the spikes stick nicely to it and it does not move around. It can stand my weight (190 lbs) and the chair and does not sink in. Highly recommend!

Thick sturdy mat
The mat was delivered flat, probably too thick to roll. Only used mat for a week but seems to be very sturdy and does not flex under the chair. The casters on the chair don't leave any marks on the mat and only minor amount of flex in the mat, hopefully that is a sign of long life.

"Pants" as an insult for this product would be offensive to the undergarments one wears
I bought two of these for me and my partner to use on our office floor as we didn't want to damage the newly laid carpet. My mat lasted 1 month, 1 solitary lonely month before it cracked under the pressure of what I presumed to be my weight.Granted I am not the lightest individual on the planet so it's not a surprise however considering the product is referred to as "durable polycarbonate" and "heavy duty" after owning the product for 1 month I believe I am qualified to confirm the only element durable about this product is the sellers gaul to even state such a refutable claim. Now, despite the matt cracking I wasn't in the mood to drop another £20 - £30 on a floor matt so I ended up duct taping mine to within an inch of its life thinking "Oh this will hold, maybe I was unlucky".......Safe to say, the only thing held was my shame as my last remnants of belief in this product being "Durable" faded away as over 10 month period of owning said matt I proceeded to watch several more cracks to develop which ended up requiring more tape which then led to more cracks... etc etc.I am now throwing out this ridiculous matt as the sheer volume of duct tape is the last remnants holding the matt together, it has broken and shattered in several places to the point where there are parts breaking off that could be imagined to be from some sort of American blockbuster prison escape movie where the inmate proceeds to make a makeshift shank out of the weary grounds persons office matt.I'm currently searching for a new "malleable" matt in the hope that my next purchase will actually hold my weight for more than 30 days before crumbling into fragments akin to my hopes and dreams subsequent to purchasing this waste of capital. If you are still thinking of purchasing said product I would much recommend taking whatever currency equal to the value of the matt, blending it up and proceeding to pour it into the dirt knowing that at least this weary act has a molecule size chance of providing nutrition to whatever plant life may be in the area.
