Not a good machine for photos
This machine is quite frankly garbage. I wanted to scan photos to digital and they come out terrible. I tried color photos, black and white photos, tried every setting on the machine and they just come out terrible.

Does the job
This is a little expensive for what it is, but it does the job. I need to find our box of slides so I can try it on those, right now I've used it with our photos. If they are high gloss they don't "scan" well since it's really just taking a photo. I also recommend putting something behind the photo you're taking because it does seem to sort of shine through the picture when you take it.

horrible
this was totally inefficient and didn't work properly at all and picture got stuck inside it and there was no easy way to get them out.

You get what you pay for.
I only had this scanner for a couple weeks and had scanned maybe 1200 slides before the white screen of death appeared rendering the entire device useless. The screen quality was never that good before it failed, but at least I was able to get a rough idea of what I was looking at. I tried to scan a couple of pictures as well, but only succeeded in losing them inside the scanner never to be seen again. Amazon is sending me a replacement which will hopefully last long enough for me to finish scanning the 2000 or so slides that I still have.Overall, I would say splurge and buy a better quality device if you are looking for a long term scanner.

scanner for photos and negatives
I just wish that it had more slides. It only has one other than that. I love it did what I wanted it to do.

High on perceived value but (very) low on quality
Purchased for my wife as a Christmas present with an eye on decluttering a kajillion old photos. We already have a standard flatbed scanner - but that's not exactly speedy. I'd hoped this would be a something that would make the process quicker, easier, and more enjoyable. In speed and functionality - this does the job. But in terms of image quality, it's full stop. If I were just looking to share a few randoms on social media, maybe this would be good enough - but if I'm looking to have a quality digital version that is to replace a tangible print, it's not even close.Frankly a makeshift well-lit setup where you just take photos of the photos with your mobile phone (a contemporary iPhone or otherwise) would likely provide far better results.I've added a few attempted scans here. If you look at the trees in the background of the first - you can tell it's not exactly lovely from a detail perspective. Plus, as you can see in the other two photos, there is some kind of reflection within the device itself that is being picked up by the scan. Lovely. The resolution of the photos is enough (the high resolution scan gets you 5568 by 3712 - which is great) - it's just the quality of each pixel that's the problem.Against all odds, I'm still (barely) within Amazon's return window (it was a gift, so it sat around a bit before we finally gave it a go) so I'm sending this back without hesitation. What good is a photo scanner if it's just going to sabotage your photos?

Terrible. Don’t buy this
This thing is terrible. It’s basically some sort of projector and the photo file that you get has a reflection of the inside of the machine.
