This reel is buttery smooth, casts way out into the water, feels stout and looks awesome too. For the money, you can't go wrong. I've bought 2 because I loved them so much. I always struggled to find the "sweet spot" on adjusting a baitcasting reel but this Crixus reel is super easy to dial in. Drag feels strong on it. Braking system feels great on it also. I've threw a couple birds nests with it but nothing insane. They were easily picked out and I was back to fishing fast. Once you get your thumbing rhythm down with it, you won't throw birds nests. It's super easy to use and cast with as long as you practice some with it. This reel made me fall in love with baitcasting reels and feel more confident as a fisherman. It's just fun to fish with and I love that. Having fun with great equipment and out enjoying life amongst nature. Nothing better. Totally worth every penny. Thank you KastKing.

Fairly new to using a baitcaster reel. Cannot beat the ease of use straight out of the box. The price was right so I figured I’d take a chance on it, not disappointed at all. Highly recommended to anglers looking for new reel but don’t want to spend a ton of money

I've got this awhile back only reel I've gotten for my baitcaster and I'm very happy with it. This thing is great comfortable size, easy to adjust, very strong. Easy to install and remove also to change fishing line very smooth reel no backlashing when adjusted right. Well worth it's sell price.

For my spinning rods, I really like Kastking products. Sturdy, smooth, reliable and affordable. Not cheap. I believe they're pushing affordable innovation when it comes to fishing products. I kind of look at them like Cold Steel and their reputation in the knife industry.I decided on the Crixus to be my first baitcasting reel due to Kastking's reputation and reviews on Amazon. Not to mention just from use of their spinning rod products. I just received it today and am waiting on my baitcasting rod to get here. I'm pairing it with a Lew's TP1 speed stick. I don't know if that's overkill for a first baitcasting rod and reel, but i figure I could do worse. I'll update with my progression.So far just on looks alone, it looks great. It feels incredibly comfortable in my hands and is ergonically pleasant. Out of the reels ive owned it is super light. Just on research alone everything on the reel is easy to identify and easy to operate. I think once im going to have fun using this reel.Thanks Kastking for the great products.UPDATE: Living in San Diego i was able to finally take it out. Our harbors and lakes have been closed due to the pandemic.I paired it with a 7ft Lews crankbait tournament speed stick. Put on some 20lb braid and decided to use some topwater lures out here at Harbor Island. It took me a little bit to get the adjustments right. Im not sure if its due to my inexperience, but ive also read something similiar on other peoples comments, that once ive finally set the magnetic brakes (ive seem to have found a sweet spot on 7), its so high that it prevents you from casting far.Either than that, it looks great, reels great and im having fun with it. Just wish i could cast a mile.I settled on buying the dark star to see if that makes a difference. Have a good one guys. Enjoy!

I love the KK crixus. I now own 3 of them. I have higher name brand reels that cost 3x as much and these perform just as well across the board. Only test now is to see how long they hold up. Absolutley cant beat them for under $60. They cast far and retrieve smooth and do well bringing in nice bass. For the price I dont think anyone that uses casting reels would be disappointed but you cant please everyone. As fast as for beginners , you have to practice and have it set up and adjusted properly and you will be fine. I taught my 7 year old how to cast one in the front yard in about 20 min now he goes out and practices a couple times a week in the front yard with a senko on it and casts as good as me. The accuracy of casting will come with time.Ok update I had 4 KK crixus bc reels 2 white ones 6.1 ratio amd 2 black ones 7.1 ratio and now I’m down to 1 of each because the other 2 failed and crapped out. If you fish at least once a week year round as I do then spend a little more and buy you a quality reel. If you only fish spring n summer they will last you several years but they will eventually fail. They work great and smooth casting and retrieving until they don’t.

As an experienced angler, I can say with confidence that this reel is certainly worth the money and in my opinion a steal. I’ve had it for a few months now and fished it heavily, and it has gone above and beyond my hopes in terms of performance. I chose the glacier white reel and paired with the KastKing Crixus rod it looks as well as it fishes. Not just blowing smoke here, if you’re looking for an honest opinion; here it is. I’ve tried several budget reels, and trust me you don’t want a cheap made reel from a company you can’t even pronounce, they fall apart if they work right to begin with. This reel casts like a dream, better than a lot of my more expensive setups and it’s smooth on the way out and the way in. Drag has been smooth with no slipping. Adjusts great to get it tuned just right to put your bait where you want it, spool tensioner knob clicks when adjusted so you can judge exactly the amount you’re loosing/tightening the spool. Pretty much has impressed me in all aspects of a reel this affordable so far. If you take care of this reel I don’t see how you won’t be satisfied with its performance.
