This thing is heavy duty, and just plain heavy. I know if it experienced a fire, everything inside would survive. Unfortunately, because it is so protective, it doesn't hold much. As others have said, the key lock is a little finicky, but I haven't had an issue with it. (Again, it doesn't hold much, so I put in my important documents that I don't need access to a lot) I also registered it on their website so if it were to be in a fire, then I can get a free replacement.

It’s great! No complaints other than the latch sticks a little. But if I push down on the top as I’m opening it, it opens easily. It holds quite a bit of stuff and seems very well built. I do recommend.

I'm glad I bought this safe. It is strong and fire proof, heavy too! I had to figure out the locking system though. I have to turn the key and then press down on the top, hear a click, then I can open it. I don't know if this is the design of it, but it it works. It locks, it opens. The inside of it is a nice size, and the file folders are great. They allow me to organize my safe, to put my papers in order. I think the price wasn't bad at all for it, and would gladly buy another if it was needed.

I had to give this 4 stars simply due to the weight. It was plenty large for all of our files and documents or whatever we wanted to put in the fire box. It self super strong and sturdy. The lock worked nicely, keeping the lid closed and allowing it to open easily when unlocked. The handles are on the sides and are inset on the sides, so you have to have strong fingers in order to lift this box. I’m not sure of the weight, but my wife was unable to lift and carry this when it was empty. So don’t forget to add the weight of your contents when thinking about the overall weight of this. We had to return it as it will not be left in our home in the event of a fire and as a result both my wife and I must be able to move it into our car without the assist of the other person. We would have kept it had it been lighter weight.

Only worked a few times now is refusing to open with my paperwork trapped inside so I can't even return it, beyond frustrated Update: after all the troubleshooting what worked was tapping it with a rubber mallet as they suggested to dislodge any stuck mechanisms, then it easily opened the first attempt, I changed my star rating to a 5, it is a great safe 👍

I installed the battery per the instructions, confirmed it operated before closing the lid. Next I closed the lid, I entered the code, I could hear the mechanism unlock the lid, I pushed down on the lid and squeezed the handle to release the latch but the lid would not unlock and release. Called Sentry customer service, was told my battery was bad. Tried multiple batteries, was told by Sentry my brand new batteries were too old. Just BS. I had to get it open before returning it because I had my items locked in it, so I took it to a machine shop. They used a blade/tool pushed in between the lid and the cabinet to put a side force on the latch to help it release after I entered the code. After about 10 tries the latch finally released. Operated it about 10 times and finally I learned the trick to operate this terrible design is to do the following: While entering the code with right hand push down on the lid with left hand with about 20lb of force, when the mechanism unlocks use right hand to pull in on the handle ON THE FAR RIGHT END OF THE HANDLE ONLY with about 10lb of force while keeping the lid pushed down with left hand. Not easy to do with just 2 hands. Many people and children will not be able to do this. I will see if it gets easier in the next week or so and if not I will return it.

This baby is solid and heavy. It’s a little tricky to open until you figure it out because you have to depress the button while pushing down on the lid to unlatch. It will fit 8x11” papers and files and small items you want kept safe.

We use this product to protect valuable information records for cemeteries. Fits 8 1/2 X 11 cards and hangers. Excellent value!

Évidemment, ce n'est pas un coffre-fort anti-vol mais il est utilisé pour protéger certains documents légaux, passeports, bijoux et autres contre le feu.

El interior es muy pequeño. Las paredes de la caja son muy gruesas por ende a penas caben un par de libros dentro. La chapa no es de la mejor calidad y si fuerzas la tapa de la caja hacia un lado, se abre aún con el candado puesto.

Came missing the inside stripes , contacted the company, sent me one, contacted them again , they sent the 2nd one, took a bit of time but they promptly solved the issue

I have Rread the various reviews about issues with the locking mechanism. After a number of trial and error problems I can confirm that when operated properly there are no issues. 1. It is important that you push down on the lid to take the pressure off the mechanism. 2. The mechanism automatically locks after after a short delay even when open so you have to input the unlock code just before locking it. 3. You again have to hold down the lid and wait for lock mechanism to engage. It is heavy which is a good thing making it less likely to be carted off.
