Skillstreaming in the Elementary School: Lesson Plans and Activities

I purchased this curriculum with my own money so I read lots of reviews before purchasing. I agree with another user that overall it is adequate and provides helpful worksheets and scenario cards but I often find myself using supplemental activities to engage the students. It is a highly verbal curriculum and, at the elementary level, most of the kids I work with struggle with reading. This is a wonderful resource but lacks more hands-on or kinesthetic to engage young students.

I bought this for work as it is required for my job. Came fast, in stated condition! No complaints at all!

I like the simplistic skill break down of the lessons and the situation practices. I was hoping for more exciting visuals and activities that would capture the interest of elementary school students, but overall it is a useful book that I utilize daily with my individual students and groups.

The book was required for a class and I found that it was not only useful in the class but was applicable in my own classroom

It's just outlines/operational definitions of skills. Supporting materials to facilitate an engaging group experience aren't included.

This is a great, simple social skills program which (unlike many other social skills programs out there) has a strong evidence base.

Easy to use!

Our district will start to implement Skill Streaming the beginning of next year. We were given the training and several core books, but this book is a great add on for continuing lessons. I teach SPED Resource Room, so sometimes I end up having to create my own extra lesson plans. This book is well thought out and detailed. You can use part or some of the further ideas. It has great ideas, and supplimental handouts for the classroom and home to help students track their behaviors. It will help make students more accountable to see if they are using the skills and processes. I have started to pilot the program and I love having this extra book to free up my time to be used for teaching rather than developing more lessons. This will also serve in the general education classroom if students just need more to help them help master the skills. I highly recommend it!
