really works, nice fragrance but not overpowering, actually does what is promised for sports cloths

This is the ONLY product I have found that truly takes the stench of workout clothes out, completely. The smell is decent enough. I add downy beads to the wash. I will forever be a consumer as long as I am a gym rat and a runner.

I was desperate enough to risk what could easily have been overpriced soap, but it actually does work to get my rashguards and ski socks clean. Now they don't grow that locker funk after a few days in the drawer. Hex also seems to have gotten the mildew smell out of a pair of jeans that had been left in the washer. One word of advice - do not mix colors the first time you wash a garment with this stuff. Even though my rashguard was very faded from sun and washing and was normally safe to wash with everything, this managed to lift some unfixed dye and leave me with pink socks. This has not been a problem once past that first load, and it does not seem to fade coloured garments generally. In other words - the detergent did what it was supposed to - I just didn't believe enough! The unscented product does leave a very faint sweetish smell a little like chalky candy. I only notice it when my face is buried in the fabric, and it doesn't give me headaches, so that works for me.

If you have ever wondered if your child has a dead body in their laundry basket then this Hex detergent is for you! I used to wash my son's clothes twice, and even after a trip through a hot dryer, I could still smell feet and onions or whatever that gross smell is that boys make!! I read the negative reviews, and I'll say this: 1. It works better every time you use it, so less smell every time around. And it also works better if this is all you use. Like, don't go back to another detergent. 2. I use hot water, add clothes and Hex, then I agitated the clothes for a minute and then I let them soak for about 30 minutes. Then I run the rest of the wash cycle, with 2 rinses. After the clothes are dry, they smell much much better. 3. It works better on socks and underwear than on shirts and I blame antiperspirant for that, so I still pre treated the underarms of shirts with a baking soda paste, scrubbing in a bit and letting them sit for about 15 mini minutes and then washing. 4. But, the more I used it on the shirts the better they smelled. 5. I don't use any other detergents on his clothes and now they don't reek! It has taken about a month to completely get rid of the odors, but so much better now and no washing twice! 6. Getting the clothing really really dry helped a ton with odors. If you're not able to hang your wash up in the sun, or use a hot dryer, they will still smell a bit. I took off a star because although I love this detergent, I feel like it could be cheaper. 🤷‍♀️

I'm still struggling to believe that there is a product on the market that actually does what it says, and more. But, every time I think this detergent has met it's match, it comes out on top. Un-friggin-believable!!! I'm a yoga teacher, and a personal trainer. I teach a lot of hot yoga, and live in Florida...a lot of sweat happens. I was tired of having to buy new activewear so incredibly frequently, so I took a chance on Hex and gave it a shot. So not sorry!! After a class, my clothes are so wet that you can wring the sweaty grossness out with the gentlest squeeze. I sometimes change outfits 5 times during a day. Since I'm working for 8 to 10hrs every day, the clothes sit in that grossness for hours before I even have the opportunity to get them into the laundry. Naturally, they get smelly, and I thought that was just the way things had to be because NO OTHER detergent, booster, or additive took care of the lingering smell, post wash and dry. I could maybe use a new shirt for a month before it became unbearable, and unwearable. No more!! Not only does this completely clean and refresh my workout gear same-day.....but, I tested it out on old workout gear that I thought was just permanently stinky and dead to me.....and, it completely took out all of the "whatever" that would cause it to stink the moment it was exposed to body heat. I have reclaimed literally thousands of dollar worth of workout gear that I love dearly. My new go-to detergent is Hex, for as long as the company exists, I will only use Hex for all of my tech fabrics and activewear - because it actually works. Like a dream. Seriously. I use Hex detergent and then any Citric acid based rinse (Downy Rinse & Refresh - which works great, although you can just make your own with citric acid powder.....so much better than vinegar with no pickly after-stink) Thank you Hex for saving my clothing!!

This really does help eliminate orders in your laundry. Not just from people but from pets too!

I am new to this product. I saw it had good reviews so I bought it. The bottle design is beyond terrible. It is impossible to measure it out without spilling. I wonder what was going through the design team’s head. The detergent seems to be ok, it got the smells out of my clothes but even the unscented detergent leave a kind of musty smell. I will not be buying again.

HEX Performance is definitely my favorite detergent for my workout and technical fabric/gear laundry, but I usually get it directly from the HEX website (cheaper than on Amazon, regular 20-30% off deals). I only purchased this set of two detergents as it was a good Amazon Prime Day deal. It might be a gimmick, but this gimmick works for me. I just wish the brand was more transparent with the ingredients (actually provide ingredient lists on the packaging). I'm very active and quite picky with my workout clothes, so I always use special sports detergent as I like to protect my investments. HEX Performance is the best sport laundry detergent I have found and it's worth every penny for this purpose. I have a top loader, non HE and it suds well. Personally I find this too expensive to use with all my laundry, when cheaper options like Borax, washing soda and Castille soap work so well. I noticed a difference in the way my activewear feels and looks from the first wash with this detergent. My clothes were in good shape, but now the material looks brand new... even clothes I have for 2-3 years have a better texture. The colors are also more vibrant. It's also great for waterproof and technical material clothes. It gets all the grime and stink from my workout clothes, and I love it has no added perfume (I don't like my clothes to smell like laundry detergent). The Free and Clear version might not be fragranced, but it has a soapy fresh scent that wears off after I take the clothes from the drier. It might not be as efficient on old hard stains, but usually my workout clothes are dark and don't get very dirty. I have some old white running socks which I used for a mud run and are `grey` since then; this detergent didn't make them sparkling white again but it keep new stains out of the way. I didn't find this on EWG to validate it's environmentally friendly truly (and the brand is not transparent with the ingredients)... but let's say I like they claim the product is designed with environment considerations. Regarding the packaging, I personally like the pouch better than these bottles, but the detergent is the same quality.
