Best Primary Journal
We bought this one for our first year and really loved it, but I decided the next year to get the Mead Primary journals since they were cheaper and two came in a pack, however they did not compare with the quality this one offers. The paper is so thin in the Mead notebooks so we could only use one side, but with this journal, the paper is so thick that the front and the back can be used! And the best thing we love is that it has a place at the top of the page where my children can write our word of the day or a title to their story below. This is super important and something all the other journals were lacking. We use the journal for our word of the days so it's nice to write the word at the top and then use the word below in a story/description etc below. Honestly, you can find cheaper journals, but not better. I just wish there were more cover options. All the other cover options I see do not have the space at the top of each page to write a title or whatever one wants and that feature is important to us.

My 4 year old loves it
My son loves to write and draw anything and everything that pops in his mind. From alien cats to robotic dinosaurs fighting. Every morning he grabs his journal and writes and draws the first thing that pops in his mind. We just got it recently and it is half full. Going to submit my second order soon.

8 year old critic says all the dinosaurs are wrong
I think these notebooks are adorable! As others have mentioned, they are soft cover/paperback and not "composition book" style, but that doesn't bother me. The pages are good quality and the lines are dark and clear. However, my 8 year old says "all the dinosaurs are wrong. T-Rex shouldn't have spikes on his back, long-neck dinosaurs either (AND WHAT IS ON ITS TAIL?); Triceratops doesn't have stegosaurus plates; this one [blue/orange] shouldn't have sharp teeth; Spineosaurus shouldn't have a bump on its head. The only one that's right is the green one with red stripes." So I guess if you're going to market to dino-lovers, you need more accurate pictures, lol!

Good Beginner Journal
We got this for our first grader when the schools switched to e-Learning. He was required to write and draw journal entries daily and his school journal was still at school. The line spacing was perfect for his level of penmanship and the space at the top to draw was in good proportion to the writing space. The binding held up nice with a 7 year old boy tossing it around daily.

Not perforated
I got this book for my son to practice writing letters to family members, however the paper is not perforated. This makes it difficult to remove them from the book. I recommend that you cut the paper out of the book first, then write on the paper.

Love!
Great for kindergarten and first graders..I wish the back side was completely lines and didn't have the picture box. But it serves its purpose. The cover is not hard back which I prefer it not to be.

Just perfect
I bought this for my 4 yr old grandson. What I like is that there is the top half of the page for him to draw his dinosaur. (He knows them all by name)Then he can sign on the lines below with his name and the dinosaur name.He loves it.

Kid loves it
Because my 5 yr old loves this notebook, he's more inclined to do journal entries. So that alone earns it 5 stars. Plus, it's inexpensive
