CaronSimply Soft Paints Yarn-Oceana

I purchased about $100 worth of the Caron Simply Soft in 7 different colors, part locally and part through Amazon. I picked this yarn due to the gorgeous, vibrant colors, but have been horribly disappointed in the quality of the yarn. I've had skeins that had such knotted centers that I ended up throwing away 1/3 of the skein. Other skeins had spots of some kind of glue or something intermittently throughout the skeins. The biggest frustration was yards and yards and yards of yarn from several skeins that were twisted so tight that it felt like cord instead of yarn and could not be used. This isn't inexpensive yarn, but it is cheaply made. I've never had this many issues with a brand, not even the cheapest brands. I would suggest choosing another brand.

I bought this yarn here, and later bought some additional skeins from another company because it was a little less expensive. But... this yarn had a brightness and depth of color that the other just didn't quite match. I can't explain much better; I'm not sure it was noticeable in the final product since there is so much color-changing anyway, but the deep jewel tones of this yarn on Amazon were gorgeous. If I had realized the difference, I would have gotten more of this yarn, even at a slightly higher price.

This is a very pretty and soft and silky yarn. I needed additional skeins to finish a project I was doing and could not find it in any store anywhere. I'm think it may be discontinued. The price I paid was 3 times what I paid in the store I originally bought it from. So it was very expensive.

I love Caron yarn for projects I make for my grandchildren. So many wonderful colors to choose from and soft to the touch.

The yarn is great (I love the sheen from the simply soft yarns), but it's a slightly thinner gauge than the solid-color simply soft yarn - that made for some tricky adjustments for the sweater I was knitting (I used a solid print for the ribbing at the cuffs/neck/waist).

I used this to make a beanie for my grandson. It turned out so soft and wonderful. I will use this yarn again.

Very thin. No body to the yarn.
