I see a little siluetto of a .. movie, a great movie
We saw this in cinema first time and were blown away. By various things actually, two of which are cinema-related and hard to replicate at home. First of all it was the atmosphere in the packed cinema, as a non-native there was almost a sense of religion and cultural heritage from the very diverse crowd all solemnly coming out to see about good old Freddy. Secondly, we were even more overwhelmed by the music and the Wembley performance in particular, simply phenomenal and unprecedented to experience in an intimate manner on the big screen.Thirdly there is acting, much will have been said about that. About Rami Malek in particular. But I would just leave it at how well the actors have been cast given their very close likeness. And the fourth thing that really stood out is the storyline and tone of the movie; it could have been progressively dark story slipping towards a dramatic end, in the style of Jim Morrison, Amy Winehouse ect.. but it's not more sensational than it needs to be. So you get very little of that. Instead, the movie has more uplifting tone and it is more is about creative genius, a band career, friendship and reconciliation. That if anything it is a big celebration of Queen.I’m sure parts are romanticised and there will be historical inaccuracies. With, as a result, a more family- friendly movie than it could have been. Yet the outcome remains a pretty solid and endearing biographical movie AND one that I was looking forward to watch again with my young daughter (that has shown great interest to see it as well). The video and audio quality of the blu ray is outstanding, it looked really great on our fairly large oled screen, with the Wembley performance a perfect showcase for our reasonably high-end surround set up.As a bonus the blu ray also contains, among other things, the film maker’s full 22 minute recreation of the iconic concert

Best biography film I have seen in a long time.
Firstly I will point out that I am not a massive Queen fan, I grew up in the 70's and 80's so their music was on the radio all the time and I don't dislike them, I'm just not a 'fan.'Anyway, after watching a few of the recent films like ;Rocket Man' and 'Judy' I felt let down by high budget films that left me with more questions or that I didn't think told enough of their stories. This however was excellent. The only negative I could say was the awful wig 'John Deacon' was wearing! But the rest of the film was just amazing. The acting was great, great singing, a story that had me in tears at the end even though I already knew that ending before the film was even made! The film tells the story from Freddie's first meeting with Queen, and the ends with the infamous live aid performance. I have never seen Rami Malek in anything else so have no idea of his previous performances but wow, he was fantastic in this. I didn't realise until I just googled that Rami wasn't fully singing the vocals, you can't tell, it looks completely genuine, no dodgy miming, all very well performed. So in all it was a fabulous film, well worth a watch

a great film about a great rock group.
I've always liked queens music and own every album on both cd and vinyl. They were a family unfortunately people die, but Freddie died on my birthday, which ever since has brought a piece of sorrow to the day. But I'll ask all reading this to play queen load and proud on the 24th November each year.

Freddie Mercury & Queen biopic - an accurate account?
Bohemian rhapdody - the movie,is a celebration and tribute of the life of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury. It captures the essence of this flamboyant and unique rock performer.a quite uncanny performance by Rami Malek in the leading role - although over-caricatured (his teeth were never that size, really).he still puts in an outstanding performance.deserving winner of his Oscar, golden globe and Bafta awards'.From the formation of Smile (pre-queen name),through pivitol moments - signing to EMI,the creation of Bohemian rhapdody,We will rock you and the emotional climax with their legendary performance at Live aid at Wembley stadium in 1985.It highlights Freddies personal life; coming out as gay, hard party animal and his sad demise after being diagnosed Hiv and ultimate aids related death in November 1991.Often a troubled man,he also had a sense of humour and a larger than life personality (understatement). The factual inaccuracies in the film are aplenty - in the name of dramatic licence I guess.if you know your queen facts, you'll find it quite dissapointing. The scene where Queen manager John Reid informs Freddie Mercury that CBS records had offered him a solo recording contract; was met with an angry response from Freddie, who in turn threw Reid out of his limo into the pouring rain outside.then later on in the film FM informs his Queen band mates - he has signed a solo recording deal with,Yes you've guessed it - CBS records - without explanation.cries of "hypocrisy" ringing out! An unfair portrayal of Freddie in those scenes,I'm afraid. On the whole though; I feel this is a very good life and career document - and a fitting tribute to the unique talent and legacy of Freddie Mercury.P.s.the film climaxes on an emotional high, with a reproduction of Queen's seminal performance at Live aid in1985.a fiiting end, rather than (lets face it) a mawkish ending, with Freddie on his death bed.an excellent decision by director Brian Singer,I feel!N.B. Gwilyn Lee is both uncanny and outstanding in his portrayal of Brian May - the film's unsung hero!
