MEEDEN Ceramic Artist Paint Palette Tray 7-1/2 by 4-1/3-Inch Rectangle Shape for Watercolor Gouache Painting

I have been looking for a good ceramic mixing palette for a bit of time, and in my search, I came across this one… I am glad that I did.First of all, it came tightly packaged in bubble wrap, and being ceramic that is a good thing. When opened, it was in perfect, factory-fresh condition; not a scratch or crack were to be seen.It weighs in at an impressive 1.45 pounds (585g). Is that important? Yes. I have many ceramic items that are hollow. They look sturdy, but they are not. I would have to break it open to see if it is hollow; however, by the weight, I believe it is a solid piece of ceramic. This item was built for the long haul.In the time that I have had it, I have worked with watercolors, gouache, and acrylics. And, I have even let the colors completely dry before cleaning. In all cases the ceramic comes back clean without a trace of stain. Cleanup is a breeze, using only warm soapy water. If the paints are dry, just soak it for a bit, and it will be fine.On the bottom side, where it comes into contact with the surface of your art table, it is unglazed. If it were glazed it would slide about, but when you put this palette down, it is not going anywhere. I have two plastic palettes, and they are constantly sliding around… not this one.I typically use the round wells for my primary colors, and the rectangular wells for mixing; in addition, the pure white color of the palette makes mixing and identifying colors a breeze.The dimensions run:• Length: 7.5in / 19cm• Width: 4 5/8in / 11.7cm• Height: 5/8in / 1.6cmTwo additional (obvious) items:It is ceramic… If you drop it, it will break… DUH.The unglazed potions of the bottom will stain, if they come into contact with paint. To me, this is not problem. I do not use the bottom of the palette. However, if you are a bit retentive, you could probably remove the stain with a bit of bleach.I am "officially" retiring my two plastic palettes, and ordering another one of these.Anyway, my experience with the palette is nothing but pro’s… no con’s.Happy Painting.

This is a great palette. It can hold lots of color and it cleans up easily.

Great for watercolor paints. The slant in the tray separates the paint from the pool of color mixed with water , thus saving paint and adjusting the strength of color more accurate. Convenient size on work surface and easy to store. Very happy with this product.

This porcelain palette is lovely. My only complaints are that I wish the wells were a tad deeper for ink washes, and that it will slide around easily- so if you’re clumsy like I am, I’d recommend adding some no-slip feet to the bottom, which is what I ended up doing!Otherwise, very happy with my purchase. It’s a beautiful tool to help out with creation.

Works perfectly when painting with a limited palette. Ceramic is preferable to plastic because, as another reviewer stated, "it allows the paint to pool instead of beading so you can see your paint to water ratio". It's a bit heavy and fragile to use as a travel palette but I love it so much I'd probably just wrap it well and take it anyway. Similar palettes are available on some art supply sites for less, but with the extra shipping costs the price ended up about the same.

Works great, it allows the paint to pool instead of beading so you can see your paint to water ratio. Each groove is on an incline. Easy to clean, too heavy to travel and delicate. Since it's ceramic, it can crack. My first palette arrived broken but was replaced by the seller quickly. Mine has imperfections (black pieces and sediment that sticks out in the white ceramic). It bothers me a lot because it's not visually perfect but does what it is supposed to do and having fun using it.

Oh I LOVE this palette! Heavy and sturdy so I don't easily knock it around The wells are graduated, so water drains down making watercolor painting easier.I will probably buy myself an extra, and it would make a great gift idea for painter friends of any level.

I saw one of my favorite artist Louise De Masi use this palette. I've tried some plastic ones before but they didn't suit my needs. I am loving this one. The slanted wells are perfect for making washes when paint is placed at top of palette and missed with water. Plan on buying a couple more so I don't have to clean them

Am currently teaching myself watercolour and have been using plastic palettes which are incredibly stained. Bought this and have really noticed a difference in my pain mixing. Really pleased with the quality. However, I am amazed that it arrived in one piece because the packaging was really poor and the box was all bashed in. Would highly recommend
