Overall great bags!
These bags have worked great for years while backpacking. Have had no issues with critters smelling my food inside. You have to be a little careful with them because they will break if you try to force them in a backpack.

Durable and thick.
Large size, very durable. Hiked in the Rockies, no animal problems. Zipped closed well.

Goid value
Great quality and price. Worth it if they keep the critters from finding my food in the woods!

They were odor proof, but one split open at the zipper seam on first use.
These Opsak bags did indeed keep food odors from escaping the bags. But one of the bags split open along the zipper seam the first time I used them. SUGGESTION: do not zip them closed all the way air tight, until you are on the trail already. They are good, thick, high quality, odor proof bags.

Excellent bags
I use these for snacks and for carrying dog poop. They definitely hold in the odor. Washable and reusable. Good value for the money

No critters - Four days in grand Canyon
I used these inside the Ursack Allmitey for a 4 day backpacking trip in the Grand Canyon. I wanted to test out their odor proofing at home first. I packed all food for 4 days inside the Opsak and then inside the Ursack. I left it on the floor of the spare bedroom for 4 days prior to packing the backpack. I have a Search and Rescue GSD with full access to the room. She never even sniffed it. In the Grand Canyon a squirrel tried to steal my Garmin (orange color on it) off my belt. They are bold. No squirrels came near the Ursack. We had footprints of little night critters in camp but none around my Ursack.

You may get lucky, you may not
This is an odd product. I say that because when I first purchased them back in 2018, the ones I got worked great! I was very happy with them. I used all different sizes and I had very good experiences with all of them. After thousands of miles on Trail they started to wear out (completely expected and ok at that point) so I bought some replacements, however, the new ones had different closures.. these closures proved to be problematic and defective..:( Either they wouldn't close all the way, or they would rip within a few open and closures. These are very expensive for that to occur. Ultimately, I started using "smelly proof bags" for lining my Ursack instead of opsak. Not only have the smelly proof bags been tested with bears, but they are cheaper, and lighter..I really liked my first opsaks, but I think they did some re-engineering that hurt them.. that said, a friend just got some new Opsaks, and they have the old black seal at the top, (which were the ones I originally had that worked great) so it's quite possible opsak realized their defect on the green seal ones and went back to the older style. If my smelly proof bags wear out, I may give opsak another try.. but for now I'm happy using the smelly proof. For reference 2 of smelly proof bags at roughly the same size as the 12x20 opsaks will cost you roughly 9 dollars versus roughly 14 for a 2 pack of opsaks. If I was basing my review off my first purchase of opsak, this would be a 4 star review (minus one star just due what imho is a crazy high cost) the best thing to do is if you go with opsak, when they arrive, test the seals several times before heading out.
