perfect for me
Honestly I accidentally bought it thinking it was electric. It was hard to get up to temp so I set to modify it. I put the L style smoke stack on it over the upper vent. then I bought a propane burner and put it in the bottom. Next I drilled holes in the charcoal pan. Then came the fun part, learning to use a smoker for the first time lol. I did research and used what I got, and with any modifications I needed I made it work for me. I've made a 8.5 lb briskets, and a 10lb pork shoulder, steaks and even hamburgers and chicken nuggets. I made it work and I made it mine.I wouldn't recommend to a beginnerI would recommend to people who who use charcoal, or to someone handy and know how to make things work.It feeds my family and I, and I am glad I bought it. money can't make good food, skill does

Perfect for cold smoking!
This is perfect for cold smoking cheese. Might have to try cold smoking some meats as well.

The old Brinkman smoker
I ordered this to replace my 17 year old Brinkman. It looked close but I wasn’t sure based on pictures. It was identical! Went together easy.I did use RTV (for car gaskets) around the top door to tighten the seal. took 5 minutes, worth the effort.

Not the best bang for your buck
I recommend spending a little extra money for something built better. There are massive heat leaks around the doors and like many other reviewers I had to create a seal with RTV to prevent the heat loss. The design for the charcoal pan does not work well and I had a hard time getting the smoker over 200 degrees using it. Instead I just filled the bottom of the smoker with a charcoal pile and that finally allowed me to reach my desired Temps of 225-250 degrees. The thermostat also seems off, as smaller meat cooked faster than expected, however my brisket seemed to cook unevenly. The metal is decent quality and the smoker looks nice and lightweight. Plenty of placements for the racks. Poor design for the charcoal bowl as it does not seem to get adequate airflow or heat up enough. I'd say it would be good on a budget, but the extra cost of charcoal needed to maintain heat and RTV will add up to the cost of smoker that won't need these modifications. Once it is actually at temp, smokes well and created nice flavors.
