The set gets 5 stars--good heft, knife is super-sharp, and it looks great. Amazon, however, gets one star. The seal on the box for the set had been torn open and the lid then taped back in place. Clearly this had been purchased, opened, and returned. If this had been a gift, I couldn't give it in that condition. The kind of packaging you might expect from the Dollar Store. At this price you would expect an intact package. Very disappointing to receive a used item for full-price.

Stainless steel looks terrific, but it is designed to prevent corrosion not to keep an edge. Carbon steel keeps an edge, but rusts. This knife is a nice balance of the two. I have to sharpen it with each use, but it's a beautiful carving knife set that looks great at a dinner party.I recommend using the Aierlian rolling knife sharpener. Super easy to use and give a perfect edge in less than a minute.My one complaint is personal. I misread link and expected a wooden presentation box. I would have liked a wooden presentation box, because the only time I will use this is for a dinner party. On the flip side, I think the set is worth much more than I paid for it. These is a lovely set.

Bought this carving set because we have few decent knives in the house and the one good knife fit for cutting Thankgiving’s turkey this year was in the dishwasher. The struggle is real!!Anyway, leftovers remain and this beautiful carving set arrived in time for them. Fast shipping, and a beautiful, quality, giftable set. My hubby washed and used them before I got a chance and commented how sharp the knife was and how he was able to easily slice turkey for sandwiches. The set has a balanced weighty feel, excellent quality.

A very nice, solid carving set. Very sharp. A bit heavy and somehow unsubtle. So if you are into blood and steel, these are your tools. But if you like a little flex in your blade, this may be too rigid for you.

I cook quite a few beef roasts and was looking for an upgraded carving set at a reasonable price point and this Hammer Stahl set is it! Nicely packaged (it'd make a nice gift), it is stunning to look at. It works as good as it looks- nicely balanced, the handles are very comfortable and a great value for the money. I'm pleased.
