Braun Electric Series 3 Razor with Precision Trimmer – A Lifelong Norelco User’s Perspective
I’ve used Norelco’s three-head rotary shavers for as long as I can remember. They were my go-to for decades, and I never really thought about trying something else—until recently. I decided it was time for a change and gave the Braun Series 3 with Precision Trimmer a shot.First Impressions:Right out of the box, the Braun feels solid and well-built. It has a clean, modern design and fits nicely in the hand—lightweight but sturdy. The foil-style shaving head was a departure from what I’m used to, so I wasn’t sure what to expect.First Shave:Surprisingly smooth. The shave was close and comfortable, especially for a first use. I didn’t experience any tugging or irritation, and it handled my jawline and neck area with ease. The triple-action cutting system glides over the skin nicely and feels more precise than my old rotary shaver. It didn’t miss patches or require multiple passes in the same spot.Precision Trimmer:The built-in trimmer is a handy bonus. It popped up easily and worked well for shaping sideburns and touching up around the edges. It’s sharp and accurate, though it won’t replace a dedicated trimmer if you’re detail-heavy with your grooming.Final Thoughts:As someone who’s been loyal to rotary shavers for decades, the Braun Series 3 really impressed me. It’s not just a good alternative—it might actually be better for my skin and shaving habits. The close, clean shave combined with the convenience of a built-in trimmer makes it a strong contender for everyday use.I’ll see how it performs over the long term, but based on the first week, I’m very happy I made the switch.

Good value shaver for the money
Replaced a Series 5 Braun shaver I had for over 20 years. Not expecting this shaver to last that long, but the basic shaver head, trimmer, and rechargeable battery all have functioned well and should last. Therefore, a good value for the price.

Nice replacement for my long-lasting old razor!
So far seems to work very well! I made a mistake replacing my old razor with a cheaper razor with the three round blades and threw it away within two months buying this one. I have never liked those razors as hard to clean and put back together just for bad shave. This razor so far does decent shave and easy to clean!

Just as good as the more expensive versions
Ordered this as I needed a new razor next day and compared it to a series 9 at the same time. This one is a TON less money and I didn't see a difference in the shave vs the two. I would say go this route vs the much more expensive versions of this razor.

Great shaver
I have used electric razors for many years. And I can honestly say this is by far my favorite.Close shave. No chaffing. Smooth…Great handle shape.Trimmer is in the right position. And this is effective from the first shave.

Decent, but not superb, shave
I am a long-time double-edged razor shaver who wants an "easier" shave while on long distance bike tours. I chose to try the Braun Series 3 3040s foil shaver for several reasons:1. Braun's reputation for quality.2. Disappointing results with a Norelco rotary razor.3. Claimed battery life.I have used the shaver only once so far and offer the following observations. The shaver build quality is satisfying. It has good heft and the finish is good. The buttons are firm, the movable pieces (shaver head, extendable trimmer) do not rattle. The shaver is not overly loud. The cover snaps securely into place. The cover extends over the power button, preventing accidental switching on.The Braun is a wet/dry shaver, and I have used it dry only, as that is how I expect to use it on the road. The shave is decent, but nowhere near as close as that of a double-edged razor. This may be due in part to the advantages of a wet shave, so this is not a completely fair comparison. Braun recommends using the shaver "before washing the face" which calls into question the capabilities of the 3040s as a wet shaver. This first shave was on a three-day beard. I have a light beard; three days growth is about an eighth inch. Even so, the Braun 3020s did not cleanly remove the longer hairs lying close to the skin, especially on the neck and jawline. On the flatter areas, such as the cheeks, the shaver did a much better job, but still not as close as a DE razor. The size of the shaving head prevented me from shaving close to the nose. This is an issue with a DE razor as well, but not as great. The DE razor also allows a sharper trimming of sideburns than I got from the Braun. The Norelco rotary shaver I used decades ago always left me with razor burn on my neck, even with new blades. The Braun did not, even after multiple passes. Some reviewers have noted that the foils become hot during use, but I did not experience that. The shave was very comfortable with no pulling or burning.Overall, the Braun 3040s performs well enough for my intended purpose of maintaining an approachable appearance while spending a month or more on tour. Braun claims that a full charge will provide 45 minutes of run time which, if accurate, will provide about a week's worth of shaves between charges, a real consideration for long distance self-supported touring. While the Braun 3040s will not replace my DE razor at home I think it will become an indispensable part of my touring kit.I have found that I get the best results by starting with a close blade shave then maintaining by shaving about every twelve hours with the Braun.

My husband was skeptical but loves it
Great electric shaver. My husband said he's used a few different types and never liked them but he loves this one. He uses his regular blade razor after his shower but uses the electric shaver in between.
