Can't go wrong with this rod!! Buy it!!
So far, so good. I Love how light the pole is!! I have it paired with an Okuma Avenger baitfeeder 25 series, so together it weighs less than a pound making it easy to fish till the bait runs out. I don't place my pole in a pole holder, I like to feel the line 100% of the time, so being light to hold in my hand all day is the most important factor to me.I've only caught a few fish with this rod so far, but I like the feel of this rod. It is so sensitive that I can feel the live shrimp bait swimming.I bought the 7", 2 pc, medium rod, so it is stiffer than the medium lightweight rod I normally use, but the stiffness allows for a great cast.I surf-fish 70% of the time, and 30% backwater.I did see a couple reviews elsewhere where people complained about the pole breaking. In my experience, when rod blanks are made of Carbon Composite, they do break easier than 100% fiberglass rods, but that is the price to be paid for a lighter rod. So, it is very important to set the drag properly in order to avoid a rod break.Cosmetically, the rod is beautifully perfect, the epoxy coating is very smooth across the whole rod. The reel seat is made well, feels very sturdy, and the hook holder is a nice plus. I don't understand why any rod would be manufactured without a hook holder!!Then, when you consider the price factor, you can't go wrong, HANDS DOWN!!I will catch the same amount of fish with this $25 rod as what someone with a $200 rod. Personally, I will never, ever spend $200 on any rod, especially after using the Berkley Cherrywood HD!!My rods are usually retired due to stupid mistakes like caught in a car door, or someone steps on the tip. So, replacing a well made $25/$50 rod isn’t as frustrating as replacing a$200 rod!!I think my next rod will be the 7" 2pc, Berkley Lightening Rod because I like feeling the rod blank in my hand, behind the reel seat (Suspended Reel Seat) rather than holding the cork. My other rod is an inexpensive 7"6' Med/Lightweight Eagle Claw which has a Suspended Reel Seat which I have grown accustomed to.All in all, you can’t go wrong with this rod!Kudo’s to Berkley!!Shipping was fast & packed well.

Great sensitivity but don't ignore its line rating is only 4 pounds like I did
Just had to replace mine today after getting a couple of really good years of use out of it. The rod looked great and fished great up until I landed a decent-sized catfish while using 6-pound test line despite the rod having a maximum line rating of 4 pounds. Likely would have been fine, except I made the mistake to pulling the flathead catfish up and out of the water using the rod instead of handling the line myself. The rod snapped between the second and third eyelet. I had it paired with a KastKing Royale Legend Glory 1,000-size spinning reel, which is a great combo. They look like they were made for each other. I must admit, though, that I replaced it with an Ugly Stik Lite Pro 5-foot ultralight with a maximum 6-pound line rating and two more eyelets. The Cherrywood HD 5-foot ultralight is great for panfish, but I do catch bigger fish fairly often while fishing for bluegill and crappie. The Berkeley is a bit overmatched by the occasional oversized fish. So I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

AVOID THIS ROD..THE REVIEWS ARE TRUE
DO NOT BUY THIS ROD 5 FOOT VERSION. Not sure about other sizes but it's a cheaply made rod and you can tell...It snapped in half when I snagged into a tree pounder. My Lews rod handled the exact same snag fine. This one literally snapped like a twig. I was shocked but the other reviews ARE accurate.

AMAZED
its cheap, it was bought as a joke/ truck pole. used this the whole summer of 2024 for bass fishing in smaller lakes in the PNW. i have caught all my PB's with this ultra light rod. i bought the 5' 6" pole thinking i was using it on small rainbow trout but i decided this year to give bass fishing a try and boy this pole held up. i had some great fights with some bass between 1.8ls and up to 4lbs and this pole did not complain. definitely recommend this pole. the price is great. the quality is great. the times fishing i had...just great, all in all.

Great looking and performing little rod.
This rod is perfect for what it is! The price is Amazing. It's classy looking. the cork handle is great. The eyes appear to be all metal, so maybe they'll corrode but I'm planning to take good care of this rod. It's whippy enough to toss maybe a 3/4 oz lure or sinker, and stiff enough to hold up to a decent sized fish... anything my kids and I would come across in the creeks, rivers, ponds, marshes we fish in. No way the fish isn't breaking the 4 lb line before the rod snaps. I would put maybe 8 lb line max on this. I think you're taking a risk anytime you ship a rod, which is definitely subject to breakage, but mine came well-packaged and not damaged.

Good quality rod with reasonable price.
Good quality rod with reasonable price. Durable and strong rod for small fish and even mid size fish under 20lbs. Highly recommend.
