Works great even for a total beginner but watch out if you want to add anything extra to it
I’ve never made chocolate covered anything and thought it would be nice to make chocolate covered Oreos. In researching I found a lot of people complaining about too much chocolate because their molds were too big. Before buying these I made a rookie mistake and tried to do it in metal muffin tins. Two things wrong with that…1. You can’t get them out after freezing the chocolate since it’s metal.2. It is drowning in chocolate. After that experience I realized I needed something else and didn’t want to have the same problem of too much melted chocolate. I settled on these because of the good reviews. The double stuffed and regular sized Oreos fit just right with the chocolate surrounding them. There’s just enough room to push a cookie in and top it off with chocolate. The problem with this one that I did not think of is you can’t add extra things to the Oreo. It literally just fits the Oreo. I wanted to add peanut butter cups to the center of the double stuffed Oreos (which by the way if you haven’t tried that then you need to soon!). I found that even if I tried to squish the peanut butter cup a little before putting it in the chocolate that it still didn’t fit all the way in. The bottom part of the cookie is left sticking out of the mold. And sometimes the cookie is both sticking out and pushed too far down that once it’s ready and you take it out of the container the cookie on the top side is visible too. So my options are leave the bottom not covered with chocolate or attempt to sloppily spread chocolate to the bottom of it. Which since it’s not inside the mold that means I have the problem of trying to make it even and it doesn’t really cover it completely. If I leave the bottom uncovered that also leaves the sides unevenly distributed. This may be another rookie error but something to keep in mind if you wanted to add anything else to center of the cookies. You might want to look elsewhere for a deeper mold if you wanted to do that.I will say that even though it’s delicious to have the peanut butter cup in the middle it does start to get a little hard to eat since it’s thicker. I personally wouldn’t add anything much thicker than that because it would be hard to get your mouth around it.But overall I would say that this is a great mold for single or double stuffed Oreos. I probably would buy it again, since overall it uses a good amount of chocolate and is easy to use. It makes it easy to pop out of the mold after freezing. It’s easy to clean. It very flexible which is good and bad because it helps you get the Oreos out. But it’s hard to keep the tray flat while filing the chocolate molds and moving it to the freezer. You definitely want to have it on some sort of tray before you’re planning on moving it.Also fyi it took one small bag of melted chocolate chips to fill 6 & 1/2 of the molds with just the Oreos in them with no extra fillers like the peanut butter cups. I think some chocolate was wasted because it got stuck in a piping bag and from a mess I made. But still, even if it had filled 7 Oreos molds that is super surprising to me that it takes that much chocolate to make these Oreos. I was just shocked that it essentially takes 2 bags of chocolate chips to fill one tray. If I had a larger bag maybe it would have gone further but with the small bags for sure you need at least 2 per tray that you want to make.

Practice makes perfect
These work wonderfully once you get the hang of them! My first few attempts were only so-so since I was trying to be fancy with different colored layers and decoration methods, but keeping it simpler (only milk chocolate and then adding decorations on top before hardening) worked perfectly. These were incredibly easy to pop out by pushing gently on the silicone bottom and came out shiny and smooth and most with nothing to clean! The few little spots that needed cleaning washed away easily in hot water. I did use a small metal tray (from my toaster oven) to make moving the filled molds in and out of the fridge easier, which is definitely a must or you'll make a mess.I filled each mold cavity a bit over halfway with chocolate, then pushed a double stuffed oreo down into the chocolate, making sure the chocolate came over the edges to the top (sometimes needing a slight wiggle), then added a bit more chocolate to cover and smoothed it all out together with a small spatula, giving each a little twirl texture design too. I only did three at a time, then added my decorations on top, then repeated the process with the next three cavities. I warmed up the chocolate in my measuring cup again halfway through finishing, and each mold tray took around 2 cups of chocolate chips (slowly melted only 15 seconds at a time, then stirred, over and over until melted). Just a warning- these desserts are each pretty heavy/dense/rich! It's a lot of chocolate and might actually be too much for some people.I did two varieties for this Thanksgiving- some with double stuffed oreos inside (the ones with yellow leaves in my pictures), and some filled with Ritz crackers with peanut butter in-between (the ones in the tray with orange leaves). Both turned out great and the peanut butter ones were a big success!

Cookie molds
Ordered to make chocolate covered Oreos. I felt the depth of the cookie space was too large. Was able to make the cookies uniform but used to much chocolate. Material was easy to use and I really liked as the cookies were able to pop out very easily. I will use in the future to make solid chocolates. They are non stick and reasonably priced. Easy to use. Functional and durable. Bright colors
