Original Craftsman Husqvarna Part # 136420 Mulching Cover For 42" Decks

This mulching cover cost a little more, but after going through two of the cheap ones in three years, it’s worth the extra cost. It’s heavy resin plastic and the hardware fits like it should. Hopefully this one will last.

I have a 20+ year old Poulon Pro 42" lawn tractor, this Husky guard fits even though I don't have the "tab" at the top for the cover slot to go over, and no longer use the deflection chute.So, without the tab grass does blow upwards thru the slot, I covered it with Gorilla tape. Also the rubber hold down straps are pretty stiff I'd recommend warming the whole thing up in the sun for a bit prior to installation. Did mine on a cold day those straps were a struggle. The upside is, those straps aren't going anywhere and the cover is solidly in place.

After not finding a plug listed for my tractor deck I bought this one. Out of the box it did not fit my tractor deck. With some minor trimming with a Dremel I was able to make it properly fit the top of the deck. In addition, I had to use a piece of wire to anchor the left clip. If your not handy do not try it!

Bought this for my Areins 42” tractor. Started by putting on new mulching blades, I put this side deck cover on.Seals the discharge port very good. This worked real good in my backyard as there were leaves, pine cones. tall grass about 6”. Noticed that it did an excellent job of mulching the grass and leaves into small bits. But the pine cones were too heavy I guess. Although it did chop up some of the cones, most were untouched. To get the most benefit from this set-up, it’s best to lower the deck as far as possible without scalping the lawn, and go slower.UPDATE: Had hundreds of large pine cones with the leaves covering the lawn. Lowered the deck and went very slow. To my joy, the mulching blades along with the discharge cover chopped up everything.

First of all, it does fit my Craftsman (by Husqvarna) 07125581000P 42 inch tractor. I note that the hardware package that came with the mulch cover has "Husqvarna Part 175991 Deck Mulch Kit" printed on it.The one-time assembly of the straps to the cover was quick and easy with just a Philips screwdriver. My parts package had some extra pieces that are used on larger decks. Attachment to the mower was relatively easy; you just have to stretch the straps a little to fit the holes that are already on the mower. The discharge chute will not quite lower all the way down with the mulch cover in place, but this is not a big deal.After the straps have been stretched a time or two, I now find that it is very easy to put the mulch cover on or take it off, so I always have a quick and easy choice of whether to mulch or side discharge the clippings.I am happy with the mulching action of my mower. The mower was delivered with a 3-in-1 blade that is supposed to be good for side discharge, bagging, and mulching. This is similar to the 3-in-1 blade on my Toro Recycler self-propelled mower, which I have been using for several years as a mulcher. In my opinion, mulching is definitely better than side discharge as long as you don't wait until your grass is very high.

Unless i overlooked it somewhere in the description or reviews, this kit does not fit a Craftsman T210 mower. Will be returning.
