review based (mostly) on packaging
Love the product, should be great based on packaging but will update review if found to be otherwise.I broke my no-food-from-amazon rule with this one. I had some minor concerns based on reviews that packaging might not be great and general concerns about expiration dates BUT they were unnecessary because the tins were very well packed, all 12 cans and fresh (expiration in 2030).This (North Atlantic) mackerel should be low in mercury and the preparation (olives, spices etc) is fantastic. I like to add a veggie but you can have a full meal of it just adding the entire can to some pasta, polenta, sourdough bread. Be warned, if you use the entire can, the nutrition facts are based on the mackerel being "drained" so you'll be consuming a lot more olive oil/fat.

Tastes good and good for you
You can never be sure about tinned fish, so I just bought one can of mackerel in Olive Oil to try. I just had the full can and the oil, mixed into a portion of freshly made sushi rice, and some veggies. The fish and rice needed a wee bit of salt, but overall very delicious. The product smelled "fishy" when I opened the can, but the actual fish was mild, fresh, briny, rich and kind of sweet to taste. Contrary to other reviews, I did not think there was too much oil; the can seemed very full with fish, which was in a big chunk not little bits, and quite meaty. I usually put butter on my rice but didn't need it with the oil, so healthier. The fish, broken up in the warm rice was very, very good. This along with the healthy nutritional profile, makes it a no brainer to have this product in my kitchen cupboard. Easy 5 stars.

Light and gentle, actually.
R. Miller is right:Not slimy and not fishy.--And they don't go heavy on the lemon.I.e. it's mild; goes in and down easy. And is filling.

Healthy and delicious
My Dr. recommended canned Mackerel and Sardines for wight loss and essential oils they contain. What I did not expect was how good it tastes! The Mackerel is in oil but is not saturated or too oily. No problem eating it right out of the can.Our cat Mia loves a bite too!Cons; Opening the can there is a mild fish smell it's not sharp or bad at all.For weight loss a product with skin and bones is somewhat better health wise this is skinless boneless.

Delicious and healthy
This is one of my go-to favorites for a light meal on either toast or crispbreads. It is healthy, perfectly sized, and the flavor and texture are wonderful. And it doesn't cost too much.
