Very solid little light
I've only had this little light for a few days but it seems to work as advertised using a AA alkaline battery. It is a perfect size to carry in a pocket-not too bulky but not so small it will get lost I wish I would have known there is a version that includes a 14500 rechargeable Li-on battery since that would provide much brighter light and longer run times. The only downside is the color temperature is much warmer than my other LED lights, 4000k from what others have said I believe. That was a slight disappointment for me. UPDATE: April 2023. I love this little light! On the lowest setting, it puts out just the right amount of light to maneuver through our dark house at night without waking up the family because the light is bright. The battery life wouldn't be long if I was to use it at high power outside but for under cabinets and closest corners, it is just the right amount of light. Based on the low power setting I use and the short run time at night, I think the AA battery will last over a year with my nightly use. UPDATE NUMBER 2: October 2024. My favorite flashlight for around the house at night! Using the lowest light setting every night for a few minutes wandering around the house, I've had the same AA alkaline battery in this since I bought it 20 months ago. Never a hiccup. Works perfectly every time.

Great light with excellent CRI
Love this flashlight. Tried many similar 14500 / AA lights, including the Tool AA 3.0 and this ones always wins out. The nichia version has a higher CRI which means it has better color rendering and field of depth, which is perfect for my use. Some of the other 14500 / AA lights have higher lumen but lack in CRI.This light is extremely sturdy for its size and easy to carry. The mechanical tail switch is nice and clicky and does not easily accidentally activate. The tail switch does illuminate when used with a 3.7v 14500 battery, which causes a slight drain over time but I actually quite like. There are many guides/videos online that show how to deactivate it if not needed. There is also a glow in the dark element inside the lens, which adds a nice effect after use.

Tiny BEAST
Wow! I am really impressed with this little - (much smaller than I thought it was going to be) - light! So bright and it last for hours on high with one AA battery! I am using it primarily as a flasher (with the included diffuser) on the front of my bike when riding during the day. But I have been caught out past sundown a couple times and it has filled in great as a main light when I take the diffuser off. It's very well made. I am a bit of a flashlight addict and have a collection of some high dollar lights and this thing fits right in! Don't hesitate! The grey one was only 19 bucks! I took the pictures to give you a reference for just how small it really is. It would be a perfect key chain size for sure. Get one!One week later...... Even more blown away by this little light once I put a 14500 rechargeable battery in it! I rigged it as a headlamp and really have no need for any of my other flashlights practically! SO BRIGHT and runs forever on one 14500. Crazy!

Brightest Single NiMh AA Flashlight with a Few Flaws
I have bought & used many different flashlights over the years - particularly those that run on AA batteries. On the turbo mode (270 lumens) this is the brightest flashlight I've ever used using a single rechargeable NiMh AA battery, such as Eneloop. While it will run even brighter on 14500 cells, there is additional cost with those and you sacrifice the lowest 3.7 lumen mode which I find very useful. According to the manual, the 270 lumen turbo mode on NiMh cells lasts about 43 minutes. Real world seems less than that in my experience, but that could be because my batteries weren't performing optimally.Otherwise, this light has a nice form factor, perfect size in your hand, very lightweight, and easy-to-use interface. Because it can tailstand, it's also excellent for ceiling bounce.A few flaws or things I would change: On turbo mode, it does get quite warm....almost too hot to hold if you run it for more than a few minutes. The output is fairly smooth in terms of beam shape but it has a secondary yellowish ring around the edge of the hotspot. Seems like they didn't spend enough time in R&D. Not a deal breaker for most situations but a little irritating when you're looking at highly reflective surfaces. Also, I would scrap the memory mode. Because it doesn't have direct access to low, you have to cycle through the modes to find it. If you forget which mode you used last, it could come on at full blast next time you turn it on, which can be annoying when your eyes are adjusted to the dark. I think it would work better to have it always come on in low and then tap the button if you need more light. Overall I'd give it 3.75 out of 5.
