I was pleased with this kit was a starting value for teaching kids to stitch. The variety of colors in the *small* (not full size) skeins of yarn gave them room for creativity and the 2 sizes of canvas gave them plenty of room to do what they wanted. That said....the needles were pathetic & the scissors weren't much better. A 9 year old stretched the eye of the needle apart enough that it broke, and the needles bent so much you couldn't push the yarn under existing stitches to finish it off. So you need to have other scissors & buy better needles. But then again needles are cheap, so as I said this was a good value in my opinion. Even these needles were enough for them to realize they enjoyed it.
