I own a stallion, he’s in a field with his companion gelding next to a field of my mares.I opted for x-stop because it’s a brand I do know, other battery operated electric fence energisers I’ve used in the past didn’t live up to the hype.This energiser is hooked up to an Agri Battery (meant for electric fencers) and a solar panel.My little Stallion will not touch the fence (and neither do I when it’s on!) it’s got a rather cloud *click* when it pulses, so if you have a horse that tests fences because it can’t hear the unit making a sound (which I have found a lot are pretty quiet) this may do the trick. May have helped my guy was actually soaked with rain when he first touched it.The energiser itself is sturdy, and heavier than most, meaning even in strong winds, secured to an electric fence post it barely moves.The earth stake is also pretty sturdy with a decent length of wire so if like me you have a rocky type field, it’s got enough length to find a decent spot to put it deep enough into the ground to earth properly.The heart loop that attaches to the fence is ideal, hasn’t moved from where I hooked it up and even in strong winds hasn’t slipped off or moved which I have found with normal crocodile clips.The wires that hook to the battery are also a decent length, so if you have mouthy youngsters (or even cows) you can attach it far enough away from the fence to stop them playing with it.All wires are pretty sturdy, as are the attachments.You honestly can’t go wrong with this energiser.Has a decent shock, it secures my little stallion and is value for money.

UPDATE…I eventually managed to contact the seller via this review and feedback I left. They instantly offered a replacement on return of the faulted unit. I sent it back on Monday at their cost and I have just received the replacement now on Friday….how fast is that👍.I’ve tested this unit and it’s working so I’ll be putting it on my fencing this afternoon. 🤞🤞it continues to work🤞🤞I can’t fault the sellers communication once I was able to contact them.👍I do think, having read reviews since December, that I t may have simply been a ‘bad batch’ as previous reviews are favourable.I bought this to use on electric fencing for my ponies.I didn’t get to set it up until this week, I am out if the 30 day return, it worked wonderfully for ‘up to’ 48 hours. It was easy to set up.I put the unit in a weatherproof box attached to a post to protect it from the rain etc although it says it’s weatherproof.The included earth rod is neither use nor ornament either. Luckily I have a better earth rod in situ.I’ve had it tested and there’s no light or power from the unit. I’ve tested all my batteries on my ancient Gallagher energiser and that’s working 100%….it’s 17 years old😱The fault is with this unit as it’s not even lighting the light up now.Thankfully my ponies are well behaved and respect electric fencing without power going through it but if they had managed to get out god knows what could have happened.I tried going through the customer support link but that is coming back with a 404 error so doesn’t exist.I was dubious about buying a none Gallagher energiser but needed to be economic…….I just didn’t realise being economic meant I would have no power to my fence and still being ££‘a down😢

Only used it for a few months so can’t comment on longevity yet.I’ve always bought one of the leading brands which have been great.This is basic but that’s absolutely fine for the price, e.g. there is no on/ off switch (it is on if both ends are connected to the battery, and off if not). And no option for high or low modes - again, absolutely fine for the price.If I needed another unit in the future, I’d definitely buy again.

You get what you pay for I suppose, this one lasted 11 months, Diode 2 on the circuit board has obviously burnt out, green pulse light was still flashing so it was assumed that the unit was working. Treat it as a consumable product then it really only works out at under £6 per month so.....However the actual company was brilliant and they sent me a replacement straight away so it would be a 5 star review for the customer service alone if I can give that.I WILL BUY AGAIN FROM THE SELLER.
