Fantastic game... and great art on the cards. This is not a game to play everyday. But it does add a ton of replay value.

Superb solo game!!
I am primarily a solo gamer, so this stood out to me obviously. Retired now, kids off with their families and wife enjoys her games on her Amazon Kindle.I purchased this because I'm a card lover. I have a dozen decks of regular playing cards and kids know they go wrong there.Anywho, Spire's End Huldegard is great! Tough to win, I'm finding, but always fun. One game I made it to Chapter 4 of 4 then lost. Next game, got through about 10 cards and lost again! Currently I have made it to Chap. 4 again and things look good (knock on wood). If you enjoy cards (408 story cards, divided into four Chapters), solo play and a good narrative, with a good amount of dice rolling, go for it. I have the Great Outdoors expansion and have added them.Mine arrived on time, good condition and the quality of everything is outstanding.

A Masterclass in Solo Storytelling—A Must-Play Adventure
A Masterclass in Solo Storytelling—A Must-Play AdventureSpire’s End: Hildegard is a triumph of narrative design, visual storytelling, and solo gameplay. From the moment you open the box, you’re pulled into a vivid, mysterious world that feels both intimate and epic. This isn’t just a game—it’s an experience. You play as Hildegard, a compelling and courageous protagonist, and your journey unfolds through beautifully illustrated cards, tense decisions, and a branching narrative filled with danger, wit, and wonder. The storytelling is sharp and immersive, with just the right balance of darkness, humor, and heart.Gameplay is intuitive and fast-paced, but still full of depth. Each encounter feels meaningful, and the card and dice based mechanics keep things fresh and strategic without bogging you down with complexity. The game’s replayability is also impressive, with choices that genuinely impact your path and outcome. The production quality is outstanding—gorgeous art, premium components, and a minimalist aesthetic that perfectly complements the mood. Everything about Hildegard feels handcrafted and thoughtfully designed.Whether you’re a seasoned solo player or new to narrative-driven games, Spire’s End: Hildegard is a standout experience.

A whimsical solo adventure with beautiful autumnal art
This is the follow up game to Spire's End, a dark and morbid solo adventure card game with an incredible aesthetic. This game is technically a prequel, following the character Hildegard in her adventures before she ventures into that dark realm (where she might meet her fate!) As such, it has a much warmer and whimsical color palette, but danger awaits her in this Choose Your Own Adventure style game.Excellent gameplay that offers a very different system from Spire's End, so if you have both you actually end up with two different yet similar games. I highly recommend checking them both out!

A Gorgeous Adventure Card Game
Phenomenal adventure card game with amazing art. The rules are easy to digest and use some interesting custom dice mechanics. The game is gorgeous and each card is a joy to reveal. And you wont reveal every card as you go through the story. Your choices will matter. Also see the prequel game: Spire's End, as well as the third game in the series, Rangitaki.

Kind of like a choose-your-own-adventure book.
I quite like this game. It's effectively a choose-your-own-adventure story in card-game form, with a set of dice; I played a few such book-based games when I was younger, though it's much more fun in card form. The game components themselves are fairly basic in that you're provided several sets of cards and dice, some small cubes in various colors, a rulebook... and that's it. The presentation of the box, dice, and card artwork is quite nice, but the package itself is simple.Of most value to me is that the game is designed to be one-or-two-player, which is to say, it's a game that can be played either solo or with a single interested friend, which makes it nice for a recluse like me... and also, if I may say, a good game to play with your romantic partner, not necessarily as a "romantic" experience but as something that can be enjoyed at home on a quiet day when neither of you necessarily feel like enduring a big, loud social gathering. So the game won points with me right off the bat for that, and I think the game itself is quite entertaining to play through. I can't vouch for the entirety of its content; this story is intended to be played through multiple times to experience the various branching paths it can take, culminating in a number of different endings. I could go through and read the cards without "playing," I suppose, but that would quite ruin the experience. In any case, my first impressions are favorable so I'm giving this a "thumbs up."Apparently this is actually a sequel-game to another card-based adventure in the same setting. I'll have to see about snagging that one when I can!

SPIRE'S END DOESN'T MISS.
The media could not be loaded. I make board game reviews (@truebgreviews on IG & Tiktok), and the Spire's End games are some of my all-time favorites. As a huge fan of Choose-Your-Own-Adventure games and dice-based skill checks/outcomes, this game checks all of the boxes. It's got a LOT more story and experiences than the OG Spire's End, but that first game really made me lose my mind over this series. Hildegard doesn't disappoint, and honestly is just such an incredible creation. The art is amazing, the gameplay is so smooth, and everything you experience in this game is just truly such great fun. I love this game at both 1 & 2 players. Pull up a seat and get ready for one of the best CYOA games out there.
